EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

This business plan provides details of forming a new business venture named IKS DotCom Sdn. Bhd.
Provides a one-stop solution for IT-related matters to the business owner of the micro, small, and
medium (MSMEs). This is in line with the Malaysia Digital Economy Blueprint 2021-2025 that the
Malaysia Prime Minister launched on 19 Feb 2021. That Blueprint document clearly stated that by 2025,
850,000 MSMEs would adopt eCommerce in their business method. With our more personalised
solution with the best features, we hope to be part of a service provider that can support the
government to realise that target.

Our Mission

IKS DotCom Sdn. Bhd. It aims to transform our clients ’business processes into innovative ICT-based
methods to accommodate this digital age. This will help our clients reduce operating costs, deliver
services more efficiently, and improve accuracy, increasing their focus on key business activities and
customers.

Our Services

In IKS DotCom Sdn. We offer One-stop IT solutions with the latest business models and latest technology
trends for applications and consulting services such as websites, cloud services, and mobile solutions by
utilising our professional, competent, and technical experts.

Target Market

IKS DotCom Sdn. Bhd. Targets micro, small, and medium (MSMEs) business owners. Data from Malaysia
Digital Economic Blueprint 2021-2025 shows that by 2025 government aims for 850,000 MSMEs to
adopt eCommerce in their business method.

Competitive Advantages

With the latest technology and national network coverage improvement, there is no reason why we
can’t offer our service to the entire country. Our solution can cater to micro-business concepts such as
lawn mowing service online booking until medium business concepts like an e-commerce marketplace.

We also provide support 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This is to make business owners focus on
key business activities and customers.

1. Introduction

The world has changed, and the way of doing business has also changed. Everything is shifting from the
traditional way to the way that adopts technology to connect to customers. All companies need to have
their business website. A progressive business starts with a unique website that can show the customer
the company’s capabilities on their services or product. A website also can act as an advertising
platform to attract potential customers.

IKS DotCom Sdn. Bhd. is a private limited company registered under Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia
(SSM). Our company aims to reduce the gap in technology adoption between big business organisations
and micro or small, or medium (MSMEs) business organisations. This is to make sure (MSMEs) can
survive and have fair treatment in customer reachable.

2. Business Background

IKS DotCom Sdn. Bhd. has registered in April 2022 with four business partners. All the business partners
contribute the same amount of money for the initial setup and own the same percentage of the
company share. The idea came from Mr. Shah when he saw an opportunity after reading Malaysia
Digital Economic Blueprint 2021-2025.

The company’s main business is to provide one-stop IT solutions for micro, small, and medium (MSMEs)
business owners. This is to make sure MSMEs can move from the traditional way to the way that adopts
technology based on what they need in line with their business growth.

The company registered address is IKS DotCom Sdn. Bhd., No 3 Level 16 Farmin Tower, Jalan ICT 3, 6300,
Cyberjaya, Selangor.

4. Market Research

Identification of the target market

IKS DotCom Sdn. Bhd targets micro, small, and medium (MSMEs) business owners. We plan to start with
the primary function that needs for the business when they start adopting technology, such as a simple
website or simple online services.

4|Page
We foresee the size of the market is increasing as the businesses start to adopt technology based on
their experience managing the company during the covid-19 pandemic. On top of that, the Malaysian
government also provides a special fund amount of RM70 million for eligible MSMEs, as stated in
Malaysia Digital Economy Blueprint 2021-2025.
MSMEs businesses, especially micro and small, are not the target market for the big or medium IT
software provider companies, as their requirement or a way to manage them is different. This situation
happened because they required more personal intention and did not have IT staff to support them.
Typically, they could only allocate small funds for IT investment in terms of investment.

Market Size
As the government stated in Malaysia Digital Economy Blueprint 2021-2025, by 2025, 875,000 MSMEs
targets to adopt e-commerce. From another point of view, Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia (SSM) typically
approves new business registration on average, twenty to thirty thousand companies every month. That
is a massive market for a small county like Malaysia.

Calculation Of Market Share

With the company’s size and a limited number of staff, we only target to have around 20-30 projects per
month. Based on the 875,000 government targets for five years, we have about 175,000 opportunities
for business every year. If we only target 20 to 30 projects per month, we only target 0.002% of the
market share. That is not a big target for the market share and we believe that we are able to achieve it.
We expect to have 20-30 projects per month, and that is approximately around RM60,000 to RM90,000.
And if we charge RM3,000 per project, for the 1 st year, we will be able to cover the company expenses
and enough revenue to break even.

2022 Review Top Web Developers in Malaysia by Clutch

IKS DotCom’s unique offering is our customisable service and product. Our products will utilise a
modular approach built on an open stack technology that allows the customers to make changes to any
part of the system whenever they deem appropriate. We will offer a partnership approach by providing
consultations and networking. Our Service Level agreement is always going to be focused on
achievement. If the target is not achieved, we will provide a free service as our corporate social
responsibility.
Our pricing is tailored toward affordability. Our concern is to catapult the business to a new height that
creates leads for IKS DotCom, thus creating an ongoing relationship with the customer. We do not just
want a customer; we want loyal, profitable customers.
We may have fewer people on board, but the plan is to create jobs without strings attached. A freelance
gig economy allows everybody with the required skill to benefit from this business. A company such as
Toptal has used the same approach. Remote working is the new norm, and this is the right time to
embrace and develop it.

5. Marketing Mix: Product, Place, Promotion, Price

Marketing Mix: Product

The covid-19 pandemic makes all the business owners think about how important it is to adopt
technology to connect to their customers. Without technology, they will be left behind and have the
high possibility of not being able to survive or grow their business. Changes in managing the company
are a good sign for a technology service provider.
With that situation, we as a technology service provider see that as an opportunity to offer services,
especially for micro, small, and medium (MSMEs) businesses. Our product range is specially developed
to cater to that type of business.
For micro and small businesses, we offer the primary product required to run the business with
technology adoption, such as the company website that can be used to promote their service or
product. As for medium businesses, they have the option to implement what we have, or we can
develop based on their needs. With our experience and knowledge, the most crucial point is that we will
try our best to minimise the impact of technology implementation on their monthly figure.

Marketing Mix: Place

The “place” in the marketing mix refers to the marketing channels the company adopts to market
products. As a technology company, the best way to sell the product is by utilising the available
technology in the market, from our website to the social media that is currently available.
To utilise what has been a plan by the government, we plan to involve in the government plan to adopt
technology in MSMEs as stated in Malaysia Digital Economy Blueprint 2021-2025.
We hope to reach their potential customers and offer our services to them with that plan.

Marketing Mix: Promotion

Due to the different target markets, we cannot use the conventional way to promote the services. We
must think out of the box and always utilise the currently available technology. For example, we are
giving free consultation services or providing the cheapest & workable solution.

Marketing Mix: Price

IT-related services are generally based on individual skills and knowledge. It isn’t straightforward to
decide the standard price. We need to find the right price for the right customer. Our strategy is

9|Page
1. To minimise the cost by utilising our knowledge and latest technology.
2. Minimize implementation cost by building long-term relationships with support services.
Support services can be weekly, bi-weekly or monthly.

6. Swot Analysis
Overall, we believe that IKS DotCom Sdn. Bhd. has more strengths than weaknesses in running the
business. In comparison to the challenges it faces, the company can also use the various opportunities
supplied by the environment.

Strength

a) We are well-versed in the sector. Our team members are information technology (IT) experts
who understand and have the skills required to run our core businesses. We need sufficient
expertise and a detailed planning schedule to meet clients' expectations. All of these factors are
the main strength of our company.
b) We have a well-defined business plan. Our products are designed based on a thorough market
investigation to estimate the unmet demand. We know what to sell and what to provide.
c) Our product is well-diversified. This comprises consulting services and the ability to provide
services, particularly for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs). The online
website business is a long-term investment. The website needs to undergo routine maintenance
in a timely schedule and new patch deployment. We will furnish our client’s business needs and
build our long-term profit simultaneously.
d) There are many government incentives, funding, and advising services available through the
IR4.0 programmes from several organisations such as the HRDF, MTDC, MDEC, MIDA (14WRD),
and others. Government initiatives have many advantages to help a newly formed company like
ours, such as skills development, financial assistance, tax relief, etc.

Weaknesses

a) Inadequate knowledge of how to run an information technology company on a long-term basis.

We will encounter many new situations in this digital field, and unknown cyber attackers emerge

10 | P a g e
daily. These challenging threats are both adverse risks and, at the same time, beneficial to the
company’s growth. The company has to adapt well to the environment and become more
proficient in the respective field.
b) There are too many competitors in the web development field. Nowadays, we can easily find
many web experts in the mainstream search engine such as Google.com and Yahoo.com. Online
search engines provide a faster and easier method for their clients to come up as among the
first to be found in their search engine list, SEO (search engine optimisation). We will be
competing with many renowned companies with a much better marketing budget than ours
that utilise the search engine optimisation feature.
c) There is also a higher chance that we will have difficulties acquiring new projects. Our main
target segment of our clients are mainly small-medium enterprises (SMEs) that market their
products through social media applications such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram rather than
having their website. We need to gather their attention and give them reasons to have a good
website for their companies.
d) Developing a website is time-consuming for both developers and clients. The process of website
design takes into consideration the client’s needs. There are cases where we need to engage the
clients physically to get their approval in several development stages. Depending on the client’s
schedule, the process might stretch the project completion a little longer than expected.

Opportunities

a) A large market. 4.66 billion people use the internet worldwide, with 316 million new users
joining last year. There are 5.22 billion unique mobile users worldwide. This number is predicted
to rise in tandem with the population.
b) Growth and long-term viability potential. More services will be offered as we develop
experience and a track record. There will be regional centres established.
c) A different product from the competition. There is a clear distinction between the product and
its competitors. Our product line was created specifically for that type of business.

Threats

a) If the market is competitive. This means a thin profit margin. Efforts to promote the product
must be stepped up.

11 | P a g e
b) If the pandemic is prolonged, market demand may be decreased due to reduced or loss
of income.
c) Requires a significant amount of money/capital to develop materials and facilities

7. Conclusion

Website development was never a new business. It has been around since the dot-com bubble. Malaysia
Digital Economy Blueprint is not meant as a one-time solution. As technologists, we work towards every
aspect of digital adoption within our community. IKS DotCom tries to empower small entrepreneurs to
be bold and not afraid of facing the uncertainties coming from the inevitable changes. Steve Jobs once
said, “If you are afraid to fail, you can never go far”, but what if we can minimise the failure rate with
our expertise and technologies. That’s what this business will stand for. The development of new
technology should never start because of a pandemic and should never end because of the death of the
technologist. It should be the future seed where businesses can profit and look after people’s benefit.
