A farm implement is a large device which is used to do mechanical works in a farm it needs more power
to operate it. They are usually pulled by tractor or animals such as donkeys.

PROPER CARE FOR FARM IMPLEMENTS

We can take care of farm implements by:

 Cleaning them after use.

 Tightening loose bolts and nuts.
 Painting, greasing and oiling them to avoid rusting. Oiling helps the parts to move smoothly.
 Protecting them from rain and heat.
 Using them for the work they are made for.
 Replacing damaged or worn out parts.

PROPER STORAGE OF FARM IMPLEMENTS

 They should be stored in a clean and safe place.

 They should be cleaned before storing them.
 They should be protected from rain, dust, and heat.
 They should be oiled or greased before storing them for a long time.

PROBLEMS CAUSED BY THE USE OF FARM IMPLEMENTS TO THE ENVIRONMENT

Farm implements can cause the following problems to the environment:

 They can destroy the vegetation which protects the soil.

- The soil will soil will be easily blown away by wind and running water causing soil erosion.
 They loosen the soil and it is easily blown and washed away running water.
 Loosen soil my also pollute the air with dust.
 Some of the implement can make the soil to be very compact.
 They may kill small organisms living on the soil.
 They may compact the soil which affect filtration.

HOW TO SOLVE PROBLEMS CAUSED BY FARM IMPLEMENTS

 Avoid ploughing along slope or steep land because water runs fast on slowing land.
 Avoid ploughing when the soil is too wet or too dry.
 We should plough at the right time.
 Till the soil to loosen it.
