ASSESSMENT 2 : PROJECT BRIEF


Hydrological responses are impacted by both climate and human activities. Identifying
the change in hydrological responses caused by climate change and human activities
is crucial to the establishment, planning and management of reasonable water
resources in a catchment.
For this semester’s project you are expected to analyse the impact of climate
change in South Africa.
HINT:

• IDENTIFY THE HYDROLOGICAL PROCESSES.


• EXPLORE THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE HYDROLOGICAL
CYCLE/PROCESSES AND CLIMATE CHANGE.
• EXPLAIN HOW DOES CLIMATE CHANGE IMPACT THE PHYSICAL
ENVIRONMENT, PUBLIC HEALTH AND SAFETY IN SOUTH AFRICA.
• REPORT ON HOW CAN THE IDENTIFIED NEGETIVE IMPACTS ON THE
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT, PUBLIC HEALTH AND SAFETY ASSOCIATED
WITH CLIMATE CHANGE BE MINIMISED OR MITIGATED IN SOUTH
AFRICA. (ELABORATE ON THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE ENGINEERS AS
WELL AS COMMUNITY MEMEBERS)
• DISCUSS THE ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGIES THAT CAN BE APPLIED
TO REDUCE CLIMATE CHANGE IN SOUTH AFRICA.
• DATA CAN BE SOURCED FROM AT LEAST 20 PUBLISHED ARTICLES
THAT HAVE REPORTED ON THIS TOPIC. (Period of published articles should
