It is believed that by default all Mantras, yantras, stotras and kavacas are said to be
locked and sleeping. There are procedures and rites called samskārā-s that are
mentioned in the tantras for unlocking and awakening them.
The word Kīlakaṃ means a pin and is generally specified in the Viniyoga section of a
mantra. Understanding and acknowledging the Kīlakaṃ bīja (seed) mantra, helps with the
unlocking of the mantra in a gradual manner. It is to be noted that the Kīlakaṃ bīja is
placed on the navel Maṇipūraka cakra, which is said to be the energy center amongst the
cakras and is the key to the higher and lower cakras. The Creator Brahma, is said to arise
from the navel of Mahāviṣṇu and is bestowed with the power to manifest the Universe.
The Mātṛkās are made up of the Sanskrit Alphabet with the nāda-bindu suffixed to each
one of them. Each Mātṛkā is endowed with a unique power that facilitates the acts of
Creation, Preservation and Destruction. In the human context, they help us in achieving
success in various aspects of our life and gradually infuse spirituality and lead us towards
self-realization and ultimate emancipation called Mokṣa.
Every mantra is a combination of Mātṛkā alphabets and therefore the awakening of the
Mātṛkās in the form of mantras and stotram, is considered key to the fruition of all
mantras.

This is a stotram attributed to the Divine MotherŚrī Mahātripura Sundarī and is said to be
from an obscure tantra called Śiva Rahasya Tantra. The stotram is said to remove all
obstacles associated with any mantra and proclaims success in energizing and infusing
life into the mantras, yantras, stotras, kavacas etc to awaken and activate them to fulfill
their stated purposes.
The stotram can be recited on a regular basis to enjoy its stated benefits. No specific
duration or length of time have been specified, but it can be deployed immediately, if any
of the initiated mantras are not yielding the desired results, even after making sincere
efforts in mantra japa spanning several months/years and exceeding millions of count.
One may also decide to recite this stotra, if there is a keen desire to do so or as guided by
one’s guru.

Meaning:- This prayer/mantra japa is to invoke the stotram, to achieve the purpose of
pinning down and unlocking the potential of all mantras - Śrī sarva mantrotkīlana
vimocana. This will enable us to also infuse life and energy to all the mantras, that we
wish to undertake for the purposes of obtaining the four puruṣārtha-s: dharma (justice,
law), artha (wealth), kāma (desires) and mokṣa (liberation).
The sage (ṛṣiḥ) is Mūla prakṛti puruṣa (Śiva in His aspect as theCreator Brahma, is subtly
referred here), the meter (chandas) for the mantra is Anuṣṭup Jagatī and the deity is the
Śrī Mahāvidyā, the seed (bījaṃ) is hrīm̐, the power or śakti is the formless Niraṅkārā
Māyā. The key (kīlaka) to unlock the mantra is kraum̐.

mantra yantrotkīlanī sarva-mantra-śāpa vimocayantī ॥
Let us meditate upon the pure Consciousness (Super-consciousness Brahman) and erupt
in the ecstatic joy generated by the Brahma vījā am̐ (अँ). The entire Creation is brought
forth comprising the sentient beings and inanimate objects. Protection is offered by an
entire gamut of manifested Mātṛkā mantras. Further, the prakṛti puruṣa vījam aḥ (अः),
encompassing all other Mātṛkā seed syllable vījā-s in between, beginning from am̐,
together bring about a wholesome effect of enlivening (sañjīvanam), unpinning of mantras
and yantras (utkīlanam), as well as elimination and removal of all obstacles and curses
limiting the powers of all mantras (śāpa vimocana).
stotram (स्तोत्रम्) -
am̐ ām̐ brahma im̐ īm̐ svarūpī em̐ aim̐ utkīlanī vimuñcatī ।
The Mātṛkā-s am̐ and ām̐ represent the act of Creation and expansion by the Creator
Lord Brahma. The Mātṛkā-s im̐ and īm̐ represent the Divine Mother Svarūpī in the act of
Preservation. The Mātṛkā-s em̐ and aim̐ represent the act of unpinning and unleashing
the powers of the Supreme Divine.
The Mātṛkā-s am̐ and aḥ throw light upon the subtle aspects of the Creation and also help
in fulfilling all desires and aid in the final act of spiritual emancipation. Together, all the
Mātṛkā-s aid in the fruition of all mantras.
All the letters associated with the Sanskrit alphabet are manifestations and
representations of the Mātṛkā-s and are associated with our karmas and denoted by the
Divine Mother Śakti. The Divine Mother ensures the acts of Creation, Preservation and

Destruction with the aid of the Mātṛkā-s.
The Divine Mother takes up the responsibilities of the acts of Creation, Sustenance as
well as Destruction, Annihilation and Re-emergence. She is the Dynamic Super-
consciousness and is the consort of the Pure and Noble Lord Śiva, denoting the static
Super-consciousness.
All bonds are released by the Divine Mother as Brahma rūpiṇī. She is infinite with no
beginning or end and remains so forever, ever flowing and dynamic in nature.
She is constantly remembered and prayed to endlessly by the extra dimensional Yoginis,
who are endowed with various siddhis granted by the Divine Mother. She is prayed to by
the Creator Lord Brahma and all other celestials, as well as by sages and all pious beings
constantly circumambulating in Her worship.
Same is the case with the Preserver Lord Mahāviṣṇu and all other celestials. By
appeasing the Divine Mother, all mantras are revived and awakened from their sleeping
and morbid states and energized to fulfill their respective purposes.

sarva-sañjīvanī-śambho prasādācchukra siddhidā ।
The life infusing sañjīvanī is presented by Lord Śambho (Śiva) with His essence
(consciousness), immediately activating the objects of reverence. The entire Universe
becomes alive and conscious with His grace. All celestials and higher dimensional beings
are immediately delighted and immensely pleased.

वर्णान्देवान् जयन्ती दितिसुत दमनी साप्य हंकार कार्त्री क्षेत्री तस्यैव जाप्यं स्वर विततनुतां मोचयेच्छाय जातं ॥ ८ ॥
Illumination of our true nature (consciousness) and of the objects of reverence and their
diffusion into the five senses and the additional sixth sense of mind is set into motion
instantly. All the Mātṛkā-s come together and bring success and complete victory in all our
pursuits. The celestials aid in our progress and we are able to overcome and subdue all
opponents and even the ferocious and destructive daityās. In due course, one will be able
to restrain one’s ego and become a noble and venerated person. One gets the ability to
make things happen and achieve all cherished desires. One gets established in their
chosen place and recognized for their deeds. All of this comes with the recitation of this
stotram and in due course one shall desire and obtain self-realization and liberation as
well.
One who recites this Mahātripura sundarī stotraṃ with fervent devotion, will be successful
in all efforts and achieve all the cherished desires and gain plenty of wealth, health and
prosperity, as well as recognition in society.

Thus ends the stotram, which is a part of the Śiva rahasya pañcarātra madhyama
saṃhita and is a part of the discussion between the Divine Father Śiva and the Divine
Mother Śakti, related to a remedy that can remove all anomalies associated with Śaiva,
Vaiṣṇava, Śakti, Saura and Gāṇapatya mantras.

Namaskaraam. In the recording, before the final stanza, “ ॐ tat sat” is heard. Is this
essential for stotram effectiveness?
