Introduction :-

● An air purifier is a device that removes pollutants from the air in a room
to improve indoor air quality. These devices are commonly marketed as
being beneficial to allergy sufferers and asthmatics, and at reducing or
eliminating second-hand tobacco smoke.
● Air purifiers work by circulating the air in a room through a filter, which
traps pollutants. The most common type of filter used in air purifiers is a
HEPA filter, which can remove 99.97% of airborne particles that are 0.3
microns or larger. Other types of filters used in air purifiers include
activated carbon filters, which remove gases and odours, and ionizer
filters, which produce negative ions that attach to positively charged
pollutants.
● Air purifiers can be beneficial for people who suffer from allergies,
asthma, or other respiratory conditions. They can also help to reduce
the spread of germs and viruses in the air. However, it is important to
note that air purifiers are not a substitute for good ventilation. It is still
important to open windows and doors regularly to let the fresh air in.

Here are some of the benefits of using an Air Purifier :-

● Improved indoor air quality - Air purifiers can help to remove pollutants
from the air, such as dust, pollen, mild spores, pet dander, and smoke.
This can improve the overall quality of the air in your home or office, and
2

can be beneficial for people with allergies, asthma, or other respiratory

conditions.
● Reduced risk of illness - Air purifiers can help to reduce the spread of
germs and viruses in the air. This can be helpful during cold and flu
season, or if someone in your home or office is sick.
● Increased comfort - Air purifiers can help to remove odours from the air,
such as cooking smells, smoke, or pet odours. This can make your
home or office more comfortable and pleasant to live or work in.

Types of Air Purifier Sensors :-

● Air purifier sensors are used to measure the quality of the air in a room.
They can measure a variety of pollutants, including particulate matter,
gases, and odors. The type of sensor used in an air purifier will depend
on the pollutants that the air purifier is designed to remove.
● Here are some of the most common types of air purifier sensors :
1. Particulate matter sensors - These sensors measure the
concentration of particulate matter in the air. Particulate matter is
a mixture of solid particles and liquid droplets that are suspended
in the air. It can come from a variety of sources, including traffic,
construction, and dust.
2. Gas sensors - These sensors measure the concentration of
gases in the air. Common gases that are measured by air purifier
sensors include carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, ozone, and
sulphur dioxide
3. Ordor sensors - These sensors measure the concentration of
odors in the air. Odors are caused by volatile organic compounds
(VOCs), which are chemicals that evaporate easily. VOCs can
come from a variety of sources, including cleaning products,
furniture, and cooing.
● Some air purifiers also have sensors that measure the temperature and
humidity of the air. This information can be useful for determining how
well the air purifier is working and for setting the fan speed.
● The accuracy of air purifier sensors can vary. Some sensors are more
accurate than others, and some sensors are more sensitive to certain
pollutants than others. It is important to read the product specifications
carefully to determine the accuracy and sensitivity of the sensors in an
air purifier.
3

● Air purifier sensors are an important part of air purifiers. They help to
ensure that the air purifier is working properly and that it is removing the
pollutants that you are concerned about.

Components and Features :-

1. Coil Temperature Sensor - Integrate a temperature sensor near the air

purifier's coil to monitor its operating temperature. This sensor will help
identify abnormal heat levels that may indicate coil malfunctions or
clogging.
2. Coil Efficiency Sensor - Utilize a sensor, such as an airflow sensor or
pressure sensor, to measure the airflow or pressure across the coil. By
monitoring the efficiency of the coil, you can detect any reduction in
airflow due to clogging or degradation of the coil's effectiveness.
3. Coil Cleaning Detection - Implement sensors or mechanisms that detect
the accumulation of dirt, dust, or contaminants on the coil. These
sensors can use optical, capacitive, or conductivity-based methods to
assess the cleanliness of the coil surface.
4. Real-time Monitoring and Display - Develop a user interface that
displays the real-time status and condition of the coil. This interface can
use LEDs, an LCD screen, or a mobile application to show relevant
information such as coil temperature, efficiency, and cleaning
requirements.
5. Maintenance Alerts and Notifications - Implement a system that
provides timely alerts or notifications when the coil requires cleaning or
maintenance. These alerts can be visual or audible reminders, or even
push notifications to a connected mobile device.
6. Historical Data Logging - Incorporate data logging capabilities to record
and store the coil's performance data over time. This allows users to
track any changes, identify patterns, and schedule maintenance based
on historical trends.
7. User-friendly Controls - Provide user-friendly controls to allow manual or
automated cleaning processes for the coil. This can include options for
coil cleaning cycles, fan speed adjustments, or scheduling routine
maintenance.
8. Energy Efficiency Optimization - Implement features that optimize
energy usage based on the coil's condition. For example, the system
4

can automatically adjust the fan speed or power consumption based on

the cleanliness and efficiency of the coil.

Precautions :-

● Remember to consider safety measures, power requirements, and

compatibility with the air purifier system when integrating the coil
indication sensors. Additionally, conduct thorough testing and calibration
of the sensors to ensure accurate readings and reliable coil condition
monitoring.

Here are some of the benefits of Coil Sensors: :-

● Accuracy - Coil sensors are very accurate, with a typical accuracy of

±1°𝐶. This makes them ideal for applications where precise
temperature measurement is critical.
● Linearity - Coil sensors are linear, meaning that the output voltage is
directly proportional to the temperature. This makes them easy to
calibrate and use.
5

● Cost effectiveness - Coil sensors are relatively inexpensive, making

them a cost- effective option for many applications.
● Durability - Coil sensors are durable and can withstand harsh
environments. This makes them ideal for applications where the sensor
may be exposed to moisture, dust, or vibration.

How does the Air Purifier work with the Indicator? :-

● The coil sensor indicator uses a built-in infrared sensor that detects the
level of dust accumulation on the internal coil.Once it reaches a pre-set
level, it will trigger an alert to notify the user about the need for a filter
cleaning or replacement. When the coil is clean, the sensor will go back
to monitoring and resets itself

Cost of Coil Sensor :-

● The cost of a coil efficiency sensor in air purifiers in rupees varies

depending on the brand, model, and specifications of the sensor.
6

However, in general, you can expect to pay anywhere between 𝑅𝑠. 500
