A Journey by Plane

The plane was flying at high speed. It took me and my family a few hours to aviate
from Dhaka to Thailand. It was a 10-hour flight, but I really was lucky. Most of those
hours of flight were spent aviating at very high flight speed. I tried to sleep on the
journey, but it was not possible. Besides, the pilot added the route of the journey and
how fast we were flying.

After a few hours of flight "d" the pilot got some signal on the controls of the plane.
He was observing the control systems which were not supposed to be on the plane.
"What is that?" he asked himself. The plane stopped suddenly in the sky.

"Emergency descent. Prepare for 15,000 feet!" He shouted after taking a look at the
control board. The plane soon started to dive downwards. This is something I really
didn't enjoy. The plane was descending really fast. I felt as if the plane was free
falling. The people were terrified because of those unnecessarily fast changes of
flight speed. I tried to grab a chair, which was not available for me to hold the entire
journey. The fast spiral, caused by this emergency descent has slowed down the
speed of the plane. After a few minutes the plane regained its original vertical
speed.

"Fasten your seatbelts. We are to land." The pilot spoke through powerful speakers
to all of the passengers onboard this plane. Everybody calmed down and someone
even started to sleep. After a few hours of flight, a voice could be heard through the
speaker.

"Ladies and Gentlemen; this is the pilot." The pilot's voice was heard by everyone.
"This is Captain William Cameron. I'll now begin the final descent. Thank you for
flying with us. Safe journey."

Soon the plane started descending. This time the descent was so slow. It was so
smooth that everybody forgot what had just happened. I remembered what
happened and who I was.

UBOA MALLICK
I am a small boy. I like the words of my grandmother...

She was never afraid of life.

I am always afraid.

The child in me will be afraid to leave home in ten years

So am I

When my mother leaves me for the day,

I can feel the fear in me...

I am not afraid of storms or thieves,

I am afraid of leaving home.
