ADDERALL

This combination medication is used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder - ADHD. It works
by changing the amounts of certain natural substances in the brain.
Amphetamine/dextroamphetamine belongs to a class of drugs known as stimulants. It can help
increase your ability to pay attention, stay focused on an activity, and control behavior problems. It
may also help you to organize your tasks and improve listening skills.

How to use Adderall

 Taken orally
 1 to 3 times a day
 Taking this medication late in day may cause insomnia
 Dosage is based on medical treatment

Adderall comes in two forms:

 Adderall oral tablet, which is an immediate-release (IR)* form of the drug.


 Adderall XR oral capsule, which is an extended-release (ER)* form of the drug.

Adderall side effects

 Adderall can cause mild or serious side effects. The following list contains some of the key
side effects that may occur while taking Adderall. This list doesn’t include all possible side
effects.

o Headache
o stomach pain
o Constipation
o Nausea

o Anxiety
o Dizziness

Benzephetamine

 Sympathomimetic used to manage exogenous obesity short term


 Brand name: Didrex

Indication: For the management of exogenous obesity as a short term adjunct (a few weeks) in a
regimen of weight reduction based on caloric restriction

Mechanism of action

The mechanism of action of these drugs is not fully understood, however it may be similar
to that of amphetamines. Amphetamines stimulate noepinephrine and dopamine release in
nerve endings in the lateral hypothalamic feeding centre, decreasing appetite. This release is
mediated by the binding of benzphetamine to centrally located adrenergic receptors.
Orlistat

 A weight-loss agent
 Inhibits gastric and pancreatic lipases in the lumen of the gastrointestinal tract to decrease
systemic absorption of dietary fat.
