3 NOTES
3.1 SAFETY INFORMATION

PAY ATTENTION TO THE FOLLOWING CRITICAL SAFETY INFORMATION.

FAILURE TO DO SO MAY RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY, DEATH OR PROPERTY
DAMAGE.

The 5 Rules of Safety should always be followed when working with electrical
parts:
- Isolate
- Protect against unauthorized restarting
- Confirm absence of voltage
- Ground and short circuit
- Cover neighboring live parts or make them inaccessible

• Always use personal protective equipment that includes, but is not limited to a
safety helmet, safety boots, and safety gloves.
• Never enter the restricted area during a thunderstorm or severe weather.
• In the event that a thunderstorm or severe weather occurs while you are in the
restricted area, leave that area immediately and seek shelter.
• Never enter the restricted area alone.
• Never stand within the tracker’s slewing range.
• The solar modules must be treated as live parts.
• The design load the tracker is designed to is 800Pa with a safety factor of 1,5
according to UL 2703.
• The Bonding Grounding has been evaluated according to UL2703.
• Never install damaged parts.
• Only schooled workers are allowed to enter the restricted area

This tracking system may be used to ground and/or mount a PV module

complying with UL 1703 only when the specific module has been evaluated for
grounding and/or mounting in compliance with the included instructions

3.2 NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS AND DIRECTIVES

• Ensure that all applicable national and international standards and directives are
followed and implemented.
• Only use approved materials and tools described in this manual.
• The dimensions in this manual are based on the metric system.
• For solar panel installation the specifications of the respective module
manufacturer must be observed unless otherwise specified here in this manual
• Failure to do so may result in property damage or bodily injury.

3.3 INSTALLATION/ HANDLING ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS

• The electronic components are Electrostatic Sensitive Devices (“ESD”). Ensure
that proper precautions are taken, so that personnel are properly grounded when
handling the parts.
• Failure to do so may result in damage or destruction of the
components and may hinder the operation of the Tracking System.
• Ensure that electronic components are protected from dirt and moisture during
transportation, mounting, and installation.
• Once the components are properly and fully installed, they will become sealed as
described in this Manual.

Rev. 1 CONFIDENTIAL Installation Instructions LTEC 5

• Only use the Tracking System components as intended. Failure to do so shall void
any and all manufacturer warranties

3.4 SAFETY BEFORE/WHILE ALIGNING TRACKING SYSTEM

• Do NOT get in touch with the Power Lock Sprocket while the
Tracker is moving automatically or manually. Risk of crushing!
• Before aligning the Tracker, always make sure, that nobody is working on the
system or standing nearby.
• Before aligning the Tracker, remove obstacles from the swiveling range of the
tracking system

3.5 HANDLING WITH STEEL COMPONENTS

• Take care when handling with steel components due to sharp
edges or slipping and falling down of heavy components.
• Ensure correct storage and handling according recognized roles of technic
and component suitable. The substrate of the laydown area must be dry,
clean and stable. Humidity and stagnant water should be avoided.
Failure to do so may result in IN SERIOUS INJURY, DEATH OR PROPERTY
DAMAGE and under the liability of the installer.
• Damaged surfaces of steel components should be properly treated with zinc
paste according ISO 1461
• Any loose components shall be retightened in accordance with this manual.
• Any components showing signs of damage that compromise safety shall be
replaced immediately

3.6 SYMBOLS USED AND THEIR MEANINGS

Risk of injury. This symbol indicates a
hazardous situation that, if not avoided, could result in minor or moderate
injuryisk of serious injury and / or death. This symbol indicates a hazardous
situation that, if not avoided, could result in death or serious injury.

Read the following important Information! Failure to do so can result in death,

serious injury or property damage.

This symbol indicates a hazardous situation that, if not avoided, could result in
damage to or destruction of the Product or other property.

Beware in particular of "ESD" (Electro Static Discharge)

3.7 DISCLAIMER

Ideematec Deutschland, Ideematec Inc. and its affiliates expressly disclaim any and all
liability for any injury or damage resulting from the following:
• Failure to follow the safety information stipulated in this Manual and/or any other
operating Manual provided by the manufacturer or its affiliates
• Failure to follow the safety information provided on the product
• Failure to comply with national and international standards and directives
• Improper transportation
• Improper storage
• Improper use of the product or use in a manner other than which was intended
by the manufacturer or its affiliates
• Incorrect assembly and installation
• The usage of tools for tracker installation only by briefed personal and exclusive
for assembly operations due to installation instructions for SafeTrack Horizon of
Ideematec Deutschland GmbH allowed
• Failure to properly handle Electrostatic Sensitive Devices (“ESD”) as directed
• Faulty storage of the components on sit

3.8 STORAGE REGULATIONS

The storage area should be prepared properly. The area should be flat compacted
ground with additional top layer of gravel. The gravel will minimize the dust and mud
and will prevent water from accumulating.
Materials stored at site, depending on the individual characteristics, shall be protected
properly to avoid deterioration:
• Motorized gearboxes, control units and electronic components must be stored
in dry, dust-free and temperature-controlled rooms as per datasheet.
• All parts that are packed in boxes, such as: fasteners, cables, bearings, etc.
should be stored in dry conditions (protected from rain, flood and mud).
• Long steel parts may be stored outdoors. When storing steel parts with
corrosion protection, ensure that the items are stacked using spacers in
between the parts and are well ventilated and away from direct soil contact.
Moisture between metal sheets or other adjacent parts made of hot-dip coated
flat products can lead to formation of corrosion products.

3.9 MINIMUM LOAD CALCULATION

The minimum load ratings and post distances according to UL2703 are
determined upon engineering specifications for the site and can be calculated
with these formulas:
