The Art of Design

Season 1/ Episode 7

The Art of design episode 7 is about Planton Antoniou, a British portrait

photographer currently based in New York. The key points I took out from
this episode is Firstly The camera serves only as a tool. The tale, the
message, the mood, and the connection are far more crucial and
important than the tool. Platon continues to shoot film and does not let
his equipment control or impede his creative process. He aims to
emphasise the subjects' stories. He seeks a relationship with them. It is
complicated by the camera. He contends that when using a digital
camera, it is simple to lose focus on the subject if you are continually
staring at the display after each shot. Secondly Planton goes deep with his
subjects, he gets to know them he speaks with them, asks them about
their lives and experiences, and conducts interviews with them. Platon is
clear about the message he intends to convey through his Photographs. If
he is unsure, he will work with the subject to determine what he wants to
express.

Season 2/ Episode 1
what I appreciate most about this episode, and it spoke to me so much is
not because of the specific insights Eliasson offered, but rather because
of how he approaches his art. Because of his ability to observe things
from a unique perspective, his work is more intriguing and motivating
than other artists'. It is a skill since those with unique perspectives often
have the potential to make significant contributions to their disciplines
and stand out of others. The second thing he does is to show his unique
styles to world, majority artists don’t even get this opportunity. overall
I've discovered that design is a very strong, if not the strongest, predictor
of what people will do. People will use something in a certain way if it is
designed in that way.
