A Reaction Paper: Jhong Helario, Kim Chu, and Ion Perez Performace
in 2023 It’s Showtime “Magpasikat”

It’s Showtime’s “Magpasikat” is always been the highlight and one of the most awaited to be
performed by every original showtime host which includes Vhong Navaro, Jhong Helario, Ann Curtis,
Vice Ganda, and Karylle Padilla. They are group with other hosts and showtime performers including
dancers and singers. One of the most anticipated performances in It’s Showtime’s Magpasikat is Jhong
Helario’s group because people know that he will give justice and leave an impact to the madlang
people.

I was once a child that loved watching this every anniversary of It’s Showtime and I love how
they put a timely and relevant issues or topic to be the main theme in their performance. I also anticipate
Jhong Helario’s group in this year Magpasikat. “Responsible use of cellphone” is their main theme. The
interpreted dance is everything, they really show how magnificent and incredible their mind is to put
into music the message they are talking. I like how it start with the evolution of phones and how the
people connect with it. The production is breathtaking, they make me hold my breath for a whole
minute. I’m worried because the performance might go wrong and acidents may happen, plus there is no
protective gear or any harness to protect them and to catch them in case they slip and fall, but they prove
me wrong, they did it professionally. In terms of storyline, they make it more interesting by giving us
some short clip parts that will continue as we continue watching, to eager the madlang people to watch
more.

In addition, the message of the performance is heartwarming, first, they tackled about the
negative effect of the fast changing technology and one of which is the cellphone which affect the
communication and attention of every individual, which can result into lost contact to the reality
especially to our loved ones. Which they did not notice that they are slowly drifting away with their
loved ones. Second, they also show that one click can make a huge impact to other people. Influencers
that use wrong way to gain views. Also, one of the message of the performance is to be careful on what
we are believing in social media and be mindful to what we post. One hateful post or comment can
affect ones person confidence and worse it can affect their life. Lastly, they emphasized the cancel
culture that is always happing in social media. Canceling people in social media because of one sided
story. As the stoy goes by we realize that what we do is being irresponsible to our action, cellphone
should help us to conveniently connect to other people not by drifting away. Most of the people use it in
other way, instead of helping each other to positive connect, they living further to reality and that they
spent their whole day through their phone.

Kudos to those behind of that magnificent performance. They give an impactful and meaningful
performance that will definitely leave a mark. From giving us a interesting start to leaving us in tears.
They know how to capture the hearts of madlang people. Once again Jhong Helario proved that he is
worthy for the title and of course he cannot do any of that without the help of his group especially to Ion
Perez and Kim Chu.
