Warm greetings from the National Nutrition Council (NNC)-Region III!

Pursuant to Presidential Decree No. 491, the National Nutrition Council (NNC) is tasked to lead the
observance of National Nutrition Month, July of every year, for the “purpose of creating greater
awareness among Filipinos on the importance of nutrition” with “Healthy Diet Gawing Affordable for
All!” as the theme for the year 2023. This calls for reinforced efforts that will enable Filipinos to have
greater access to healthy, safe, and affordable food and will consequently lead towards the reduction of
all forms of malnutrition.

This year’s celebration of Nutrition Month, the NNC Region III recognizes the crucial roles of the local
government sectors in Central Luzon in achieving a healthy and affordable diet for all Filipinos. The
formulation of local nutrition action plans and their integration into the local development plan and
annual investment plan will help ensure that nutrition action at the local level is strategic and purposive.

In line with that, the NNC Region III will be holding a Contest on the percent of barangays with
LNAPs that are integrated in the AIP and LDIP among members of the Central Luzon
Association of BNSs, Inc. (CLABI). Through this contest, the LGUs will be encouraged to invest in
their nutrition interventions with the aim of achieving a healthy and affordable diet for all and
improving the nutrition situation in Central Luzon. May we request your good office to issue a
memorandum for the LGUs regarding this contest?

Contest on the percent of barangays with LNAPs that are integrated in the AIP and LDIP among
members of the Central Luzon Association of BNSs, Inc. (CLABI)

I. Qualifications and Mechanics

a. The contest is open to all officers of the Central Luzon Association of Barangay Nutrition Scholars,
Inc. (CLABI), representing the seven (7) provinces and 14 cities in Central Luzon.
b. To qualify, participant must accomplish an entry form to be provided by the NNC-Region III:

c. Deadline for submission of entries and requirements is on July 26, 2023 @ 12:00 NN through the link to
be provided by NNC Region III.
d. Judges of the contest will be from the select members of the Regional Nutrition Technical Working
Group (RNTWG) from DOH, DILG and NEDA. The judges will meet on July 31, 2023 for the short
listing and identification of the top three (3) winners.
e. NNC-Region III will notify the winners via email, copy furnished their City/Municipal Nutrition
Action Officers. Winners will also be announced during the Nutrition School on the Air Para sa Batang
Laking 1,000, a radio magazine program of the NNC Region III over Bright FM 91.9.
f. Winners will be requested to gather all the BNAPs (total numbers indicated in the entry form) in the
Provincial or City Nutrition Office for validation of the judges based on a set criterion for judging. The
visit to the province or city nutrition office is also an opportunity to meet with the LCE to advocate for
nutrition and provide technical assistance to the LGU and the BNS.
g. Winners will receive cash prizes and certificates of recognition during the 2023 Regional Nutrition
Awarding Ceremony on October 20, 2023

II. Prizes

1st Prize – Php 8,000.00 + Certificate

2nd Prize – Php 5,000.00 + Certificate

3rd Prize – Php 3,000.00 + Certificate

III. Criteria for Judging

Integration to AIP
Criteria Percentage
The LNAPs were complete and comprehensive. It 25%
shall follow the Guidelines on Local Nutrition
Planning. The plans and interventions presented
were tailor-fitted to address the existing nutritional
problems in their locality. It should also be
integrated to their Annual Investment Plan (AIP).

Supported with The LNAPs shall be approved by way of LNC 25%

Resolution resolution. All members of the LNC should sign the
resolution to indicate ownership and commitment to
operationalize the plan.

Inclusion of F1K The LNAPs shall incorporate strategies on First 25%

Strategies in their 1000 days of life in their Programs, Projects, and
PPAs Activities (PPAs).

Most number of The LNAPs shall exhibit the engagement of several 25%
involved LNC members of the LNCs during the LNAP
members in the Formulation.
