prevent well fluids from entering the coiled tubing, particularly in the
case of rupture of the coiled tubing at surface. The disconnect, typ-

typically run in conjunction with a downhole motor, is used to create
communication between the coiled tubing and the annulus to in-
crease flow-rate once motor operations have been completed.

HYDRAULIC RELEASING OVERSHOT

Product Family Nos. H13330 (for Slick OD Fishing)
and H13331 (for Fishing Necks)
DESCRIPTION/APPLICATION
The Hydraulic Releasing Overshot is used to catch external JDC type
fishnecks or to catch slick OD profiles. The tool is engineered to with-
stand high tensile, and compressive stresses encountered during jarring
operations. The overshot is engaged by applying slight set-down weight
at the tool. A flow path is provided through the tool for circulation while
running in the hole; this path can also be used to wash debris from the
top of the fish or profile. In the event that retrieval is not possible, in-
creased flow rate through the tool will allow release from the fishneck en-
suring no additional tools are left in the well.

FEATURES/BENEFITS
• High strength
• Can be used for jarring operations
• Flow path permits washing debris from the top of the fish or profile
• No shear screws
• Design minimizes stress on the grapple section

HYDRAULIC RELEASING GS™ SPEAR

Product Family Nos. H13310 (for Slick ID Fish)
and H13311 (for Fishing Neck)
DESCRIPTION/APPLICATION
The Hydraulic Releasing GS Spear, specifically designed for thru-tubing
fishing operations, is engineered to withstand the high tensile and com-
pressive stresses encountered during jarring operations. These spears
are designed to engage standard GS fish necks or slick ID fish necks.
The non-rotating GS Spear incorporates a clutch matching that of the
FAU™ Hydraulic Disconnect so that torque may be transmitted through
the tool.
A flow path is provided through the tool to allow circulation while running
in the hole. Once the profile is encountered, the flow path can be used to
create a jetting action to wash debris from the profile.
To engage the profile or the slick ID of a fish, minimal set-down weight is
applied which moves the collets into the release position allowing it to en-
ter the fish ID. Once the spear has adequately entered this ID, the collets
or slip will snap into the catch position. To release from the fish or GS pro-
file, increased flow rate will move the collet or slip into the release posi-
tion.

FEATURES/BENEFITS
• Maximum ID on collets or slips
• High tensile strength
• Pump through capabilities
• No shear screws
• Minimized stress on collets or slips

SINGLE KNUCKLE JOINT

AND DOUBLE KNUCKLE JOINT
Product Family Nos. H13230 and H13231
DESCRIPTION/APPLICATION
The Thru-Tubing Knuckle Joints are used in fishing
operations in deviated wellbores, or in any situation
requiring centralization of the catch tool in the cas-
ing.
The knuckle joints are used in conjunction with a
thru-tubing hydraulic or mechanical centralizer in or-
der to allow centralization of the catch tool without
having to overcome the weight of the workstring
against the bottom side of the casing. The hydraulic
or mechanical centralizer, therefore, only has to
support the weight of itself and the catch tool run be-
low. The knuckle joints design allows fluid flow
through the tool, so it can be utilized in washover op-
erations. The knuckle joints may be used in either
tubing or wireline fishing applications. The standard
knuckle joints are not sealed, but the tolerances are
such that at a sufficient flow rate, the knuckle joint
seals between the ball sub and the ball retainer to
activate any hydraulic actuated tools below the
knuckle joint. A sealed knuckle joint has been
designed for low flow rate applications.

RETRIEVABLE SPOT AND TREAT PACKER (RSTP)

Product Family No. H33002
The Retrievable Spot and Treat Packer (RSTP) is a single set inflatable packer
with a built-in single opening spotting valve designed to be run on coiled or
threaded tubing. The packer gives the operator the ability to set the tool, commu-
nicate with the isolated zone below the packer, pick up to open a spotting valve
in order to position treatment fluids to the tool, then set back down again to regain
isolated communication. After the treatment is complete, the tubing is again
picked up on which will shear the spotting valve open once more to allow for tool
equalization. Once equalized, the application of a small amount of set-down
weight will latch the RSTP’s releasing mechanism.

INFLATABLE STRADDLE SYSTEMS Baker Oil Tools

THRU-TUBING INFLATABLE
STRADDLE SYSTEMS
A number of straddle systems have been designed
with varying geometry's to isolate upper or intermedi-
COMPLETION
ate zones within the well while at the same time allow-
ing communication to or from the zones below. These
systems may be run on threaded tubing, coiled tubing
and electric wireline. Many of the straddles can be run
in a single trip or modularly whereby the straddle is
assembled by means of snap latches in situ in the
wellbore. The straddle interval may be blank pipe or
contain flow control devices to incorporate later plug-
ging of the straddle or access to the isolated zone or
zones.

ELECTRIC WIRELINE RESERVOIR SYSTEMS

Product Family No. H43715
The Electric Wireline Reservoir System can be used in wellbores where the in-situ
fluid is not compatible with the Electric Wireline Setting Tool (EWST). This may be in
low fluid level wells, gas wells or wells with fluids with unacceptable solids content.
The EWST is contained within the reservoir system and the reservoir system
“preloaded” at surface with a suitable inflation fluid. This fluid is carried to setting
depth and utilized to pressure the inflatable tool. Baker Oil Tools can provide a variety
of different reservoir configurations in order to satisfy the individual well properties.
FEATURES/BENEFITS
• Allows for electric wireline deployment in most environments
• Deployable version available to minimize lubricator length requirements

COILED TUBING CONNECTORS (CTC)

Product Family No. H33060
The Coiled Tubing Connector (CTC) allows for a method of connecting the tool string
to the coiled tubing itself. The connector most often utilized by Baker Oil Tools incor-
porates a slip design. This slip design dispenses the pull load around the coiled tubing
evenly and in many cases can provide a joint stronger than the yield of the coiled tub-
ing itself. Dual o-rings create a pressure tight seal around the coiled tubing. This con-
nector is available for all commonly used sizes of coiled tubing.

Product Family No. H33060

INTERNAL COILED TUBING CONNECTOR (ICTC)

Product Family No. H33060
The Internal Coiled Tubing Connector (ICTC) has been developed for applications re-
quiring a small diameter tool string to pass through restrictions in the production tub-
ing, without having to downsize the coiled tubing size being used. The internal
connector utilizes an internal slip to anchor to the ID of the coiled tubing, and a com-
pression-set seal package with metal backup rings for high-pressure capacity.

THRU-TUBING BACK PRESSURE VALVES

Product Family No. H33090
(Single Flapper)
Product Family No. H33092
(Double Flapper)
The Thru-Tubing Back Pressure Valve is run in the coiled tubing string as a safety pre-
caution on “live” wells to prevent fluid flow up the coiled tubing. If a leak were to de-
velop in the coiled tubing at surface, the back pressure valves would prevent the well
from flowing uncontrolled at surface. Sizes available are 1.69" (42.9 mm), 2.13"
(54.1 mm), 3.00" (76.2 mm), 3.13" (79.5 mm), and 3.50" (88.9 mm) OD.

COILED TUBING FLUID RESERVOIR SYSTEM

Product Family No. H33049
DESCRIPTION/APPLICATION
The Coiled Tubing Fluid Reservoir System allows the setting of in-
flatable products in unsuitable pipe fluids, gas wells, or anywhere the
inflation fluid needs to be separated from threaded tubing, coiled tub-
ing, or drill pipe. The Coiled Tubing Reservoir System carries the
compatible inflation fluid required to depth. It inflates the element in
situations where separation from either the wellbore or from the run-
ning string provides the optimum operating conditions of the inflat-
able element.
The standard reservoir comes with a sufficient number of housings
to set an inflatable bridge plug, packer, or cement retainer in 7 in.
(177.8 mm) casing sizes. If more (or less) inflation fluid is required,
the number of housings can vary to obtain the correct inflation fluid

BALL OPERATED SECONDARY

HYDRAULIC RELEASE
Product Family No. H33070
The Thru-Tubing Secondary Hydraulic Release is a balanced
safety device used to release from stuck tools run on coiled
tubing. A ball is placed in the coil and pumped to seat creating
an unbalanced shear sleeve. Pressure is applied to the coil
and the sleeve shears releasing the collet which holds the fish
neck. Removal of the coiled tubing from the well is now possi-
ble leaving an exposed fish neck to go back and latch. Sizes
available 1.69" (42.9 mm), 2.13" (54.1 mm), 3.00" (76.2 mm),
and 3.38" (85.8 mm) OD.

THRU-TUBING NIPPLE
PROFILE LOCATOR
Product Family No. H33040
The Thru-Tubing Nipple Profile Locator is a simple method of
locating a known position in the wellbore, allowing for more
accurate positioning of the inflatable element when deploying
via coiled tubing. The Nipple Profile Locator has three leaf
springs retained within a housing. An upset in the middle of
the springs is at a diameter greater than that of the nipple pro-
file it is intended to locate, but the leaf springs can deflect
enough to allow the locator to pass through the nipple. The
contour of the spring is such that the locator will move down
through the restriction fairly easily, yet has sufficient drag
force to allow a detectable weight gain on the coiled tubing
weight indicator at surface as the locator passes up through
the location nipple. The locator has an adjustment sleeve al-
lowing for the force required to be altered prior to running. The
Nipple Profile Locator is not a “single shot” device and numer-
ous passes through the nipple can be made in order to cor-
rectly identify the required point of correlation.

BALL OPERATED
CIRCULATING VALVE
Product Family No. H33061
The Thru-Tubing Circulating Valve provides a large
area circulation path between the coiled tubing ID and
the annulus. The circulation ports are opened by drop-
ping a ball to its seat in the valve and applying pressure
in order to shear some shear screws and move a pis-
ton downwards. Once the valve has been opened the
ball and seat seal in the mandrel ID below the ports ef-
fectively blocking off any further fluid bypass to below.
This feature allows for the use of the valve for the spot-
ting of fluids above a set inflatable packer with the
knowledge that all fluids are being directed out of the
circulating valve and not to below the packer. Applica-
tions for the circulating valve include chemical treat-

ments above a set packer, cement placement above a
permanent bridge plug, debris barrier placement
above a retrievable bridge plug, etc. The tool may be
supplied with an integral rupture disc port for use when
dropping a ball may not be possible, i.e., in a plugged
situation. Here the rupture disc may be over pressured
in order to achieve circulation in order to allow further
use of drop balls.
Ball Operated Circulating Valve
Product Family No. H33061

PRESSURE OPERATED
CIRCULATING VALVE
Product Family No. H33051
The Thru-Tubing Pressure Operated Circulating Valve
provides a means of opening communication from the
inside of the coiled tubing to the annulus. The tool may
be used above such tools as packers to allow treating
above the set tool or, in the case of a straddle system,
to provide communication between the packers. The
Pressure Operated Circulating Valve is normally a
closed valve and is opened by applying tubing pres-
sure. The applied pressure acts on an unbalanced pis-
ton inside the housing. This piston is retained in the
closed position by shear screws. When the predeter-
mined value of these shear screws is reached, the pis-
ton is pumped down opening ports to the annulus.

TENSION OPERATED
EQUALIZING/CIRCULATING VALVE
Product Family No. H33075
The Thru-Tubing Equalizing/Circulating Valve pro-
vides a means of opening a communication path be-
tween the coiled tubing ID and the annulus by applying
tension to the coiled tubing. This communication path
may be used to equalize pressure from the coiled tub-
ing to annulus, circulate fluids from the coiled tubing to
the annulus, and various other operations. The circu-
lating path can be opened and closed multiple times by
either applying tension to the coiled tubing or setting
down on the set tool below. Running in the hole, the
tool is held in the closed position by pressure release
dogs. When pressure is applied to the coiled tubing to
set the inflatable element of the tool below, the dogs
are released and the valve can now be opened by pull-
ing tension in the coiled tubing. From this point on the
mandrel is free to move and repeated opening and
closing of the valve is possible.
Two different configurations of valves are manufac-
tured. One has no isolation feature below the valve
when it is opened; and, the second when opened does
close below to positively isolate below the valve.

THRU-TUBING INFLATION VALVE

Product Family No. H33078
The Thru-Tubing Inflation Valve is run with retrievable
and permanent bridge plugs to provide a communica-
tion path to the annulus so that fluid can be circulated
down the coiled tubing while running in the hole. An-
other important function of the inflation valve is to
equalize pressure from bridge plug ID to casing while
going in the hole. This prevents damage to the packing
element and insures that the poppet is not seated too
tight in the poppet housing due to hydrostatic pressure
while tripping in the hole. Sizes available are 1.69"
(42.9 mm), 2.13" (54.1 mm), 3.00" (76.2 mm), and
3.75" (95.2 mm) OD.

PULL-TO-EQUALIZE VALVE
Product Family No. H33001
The Pull-To-Equalize Valve may be added to a Thru-Tubing Retrievable Packer
System. The standard packer uses a ball to operate the equalizing mechanism.
In some cases, such as a squeeze operation, it may not be possible to circulate
a ball to its seat in the packer. Here a Pull-To-Equalize Valve may be run. By the
application of tension applied to the coiled tubing, the equalizing valve will be
sheared open and the zones above and below the set packer allowed to com-
municate. Once equalization is complete, a minimal amount of set-down weight
is required in order to latch the packer pull release mechanism.

FLOW ACTUATED INFLATION VALVE

Product Family No. H33078
The Flow Actuated Inflation Valve (FAIV) like the stan-
dard Thru-Tubing Inflation Valve provides for a means
of circulating through the coiled tubing while running in
the hole and allows for the inflatable element to be
equalized with the wellbore pressure while running in
hole. The major difference is that the FAIV does not
necessitate the requirement to utilize a setting ball in
order to function. The elimination of the setting ball re-
duces the time required to set inflatable and other ball
operated tools, problems pumping setting balls to seat
in highly deviated or horizontal wellbores, rapid infla-
tion problems, and the need for the downhole tools to
be able to pass a ball. The FAIV is operated by varying
the flow rate down the tubing.

THRU-TUBING FLUID
LOADING VALVE
Product Family No. H33050
The Thru-Tubing Fluid Loading Valve (FLV) was de-
signed to allow the coiled tubing to be filled with a lim-
ited amount of fluid (water), prior to running in the hole,
with which to inflate the element when setting in condi-
tions where a large pressure imbalance would exist be-
tween the hydrostatic of a fluid column in the coiled
tubing to the setting depth bottom hole pressure in low
pressure wells. This allows for the element to be inflat-
ed with fluid while allowing for the coiled tubing to be
pressurized with a gas. The FLV utilizes a sleeve type
design which allows an exterior port to be either
opened or closed to the interior of the tool. After a suf-
ficient amount of fluid has been pumped into the coiled
tubing (to inflate the element), the valve is closed by
means of rotation of this outer sleeve. The filler hose is
then removed and the outer sleeve locked by means of
set screws

HYDRAULIC DISCONNECT/RUNNING TOOLS

Product Family No. H33072
The purpose of the Hydraulic Running Tool is to connect the conveyance string (be it threaded pipe, coiled tub-
ing or electric wireline) to the inflatable element being run. For bridge plugs and certain straddle configurations,
a hydraulic disconnect running tool is utilized which is designed to release the running string from the set inflat-
able tool at a predetermined pressure.

BOW SPRING TYPE CENTRALIZER

Product Family No. H34016
The Thru-Tubing Bow Spring Type Centralizer is designed to aid in the retrieving
process in deviated wellbore applications where latching of the retrieving tool re-
quires centralization. The centralizer will pass through all minimum tubing re-
strictions down to the tool OD and still centralize in the casing below.

THRU-TUBING HYDRAULIC CENTRALIZER
Product Family No. H34017
The Thru-Tubing Hydraulic Centralizer, like the mechanical bow spring type, is
designed to pass through the production tubing and centralize in the pipe below.
Centralization is achieved by the application of flow through the mandrel working
against a choke. It is the back pressure created by flowing through this choke
that expands the bow springs of the centralizer. Varying the rate of circulation
will vary the deflection of the bow springs. Stopping circulation will allow the bow
springs to collapse back in order for retrieval of the toolstring.

THRU-TUBING WASH-OVER RETRIEVING HEAD

Product Family No. H34011
The Wash-Over Retrieving Head provides a means to allow the circulation of de-
bris or fill off of the top of a fishing neck before latching up. An optional tool is
available with a flow release facility that will allow for releasing from the fishing
neck should it be required. The tools are designed in that the bottom guides are
interchangeable in order that the optimum OD of the guide can be selected to
safely pass the minimum restriction yet still allow the largest catch range possi-
ble. Both styles of Wash-Over Retrieving Tools incorporate a profile to shift the
bridge plug equalizing sleeve prior to engaging the fishing neck.

THRU-TUBING WIRELINE RETRIEVING TOOL

Product Family No. H34013
There are two different designs for both the 2.13" (54.1 mm) and 3.00" (76.2 mm)
chassis bridge plugs. The 2.13" (54.1 mm) OD tool is a modified washover
retrieving head with a standard 1.375" (34.9 mm) OD wireline fishing neck made
up into the top connection. The rest of the wireline retrieving string is then
attached to the retrieving head with a “jar down” type wireline catch tool. The
3.00" (76.2 mm) tool is supplied with a sucker rod pin connection for attachment
to the wireline retrieving string and the “jar down” catch tool is housed within the
retrieving guide itself. The retrieving tool incorporates a profile in order to shift the
bridge plug equalizing sleeve prior to latching the fishing neck.

HYDRAULIC RELEASING OVERSHOT

Product Family Nos. H37431
The Hydraulic Releasing Overshot is used to catch external JDC type fishnecks.
The tool is engineered to withstand high tensile, and compressive stresses en-
countered during jarring operations. The overshot is engaged by applying slight
set-down weight at the tool. A flow path is provided through the tool for circulation
while running in the hole; this path can also be used to wash debris from the top
of the fish or profile. In the event that retrieval is not possible, increased flow rate
through the tool will allow release from the fishneck ensuring no additional tools
are left in the well.
The retrieving tool incorporates a profile in order to shift the bridge plug equaliz-
ing sleeve prior to latching the fishing neck.
