Journal Title : the application of pure values in teaching

Problem

This week, I have identified another weakness in the teaching sessions that I have

implemented especially from the aspect of the application of noble values. Values

are defined as standard rules of conduct that are held by members of society and

subsequently determined by society according to the culture of that society. The

purpose of the application of values is to influence the individual with certain values

that are universal and absolute, which are thought to be good and appropriate. Value

education is very important as part of the content of the school curriculum, in the

educational process of an individual.

Problem analysis

The problems that have been identified are related to the application of noble values

in the teaching and learning process. The weakness that I have identified in this

regard is that I am still weak and less successful in instilling good values in the

students I teach. I began to realize this weakness when the teaching that I

implemented was only to give full focus and attention to the content of learning

alone, so that I was lazy and negligent in terms of the application of noble values

among my students.

I only focused on the content of the lesson I wanted to convey at that step by

ignoring the application of the values I was supposed to achieve. This was also
noticed by my supervising lecturer during the supervision session against me. The

lecturer has stated that the application of the values that I set on the RPH provided is

not implemented practically and effectively while the teaching session is being

conducted. Therefore, a good teaching must also give emphasis to the noble values

among the students being taught

Past studies/related studies

Based on this assertion, Ellis, Cagan and Howay (1991) make some

recommendations in relation to value education. Among them is that value education

is very much needed in schools and teachers are agents of value transfer to

students. Further, he also stated that the teaching of values should be the main

focus in education and the holding of values in general should be based on the

beliefs of the society itself. Education is an important vehicle in generating a

paradigm shift for each individual as well as playing an important role in producing

dynamic human beings in all aspects of life. In general, education is always

associated with the process of teaching and learning a science and also the

application of values. In its practical form, the results of education should be able to

produce human capital that is able to apply the knowledge that has been learned

and then utilize the pure values possessed in daily life.

Proposed Follow -up Action

I must make improvements to the implementation of the teaching that I carry out
especially on the application of noble values among my students. One of the actions
I need to take is that I must do reflective writing on this issue.

Another action that can be taken is also that I must choose the correct value and
appropriate to the activity to be implemented at the step. If I choose pure values that
are not suitable for learning activities at that time, I will definitely have difficulty in
applying and achieving those values. It is undeniable that against many noble values
that can indeed be applied throughout the teaching and learning sessions. However,
not all of the values are appropriate for the activities planned and implemented in the
classroom. For example, if I want to implement a game, among the values that can
be applied are such as competitiveness, cooperation, helping each other, efficient
and diligent

Completion period

I have made changes and improvements in my teaching. As I have mentioned


before, now my teaching is not only focused on the content of learning alone, but
also cares about the application of the noble values that I want to focus on. Then, I
also emphasize in terms of the selection of the noble value itself which the noble
value that I choose is appropriate to the activities carried out at that time. Eventually,
the application of my pure values became more affective and focused in the teaching
sessions I implemented. With that, the teaching and learning process that I
implement in the classroom becomes more productive, effective and comprehensive
