Scenario Final

1. Report the metrics (Customer, Employee and Shareholder satisfaction


percentages). How did your team do? What could have been done better? Explain
in no less than 40 words. (5 pts)

Customer: 81% Employee: 81% Shareholder: 47%

In my opinion, I think the team did well because we took a different stance; this
time around we were very conscious of the budget. We ended up having a cash
reserve of about 46 million! I think this is amazing because on the last scenario
we were negative ten million. I think we could have done better by having better
group communication. A few times it was hard to contact the other group
members.

2. How did your individual decisions compare to those of your teammates? Did you
agree/disagree? Explain in no less than 40 words. (4 pts)

Well, my teammates and I all chose to be conscious of the budget, therefore


through each simulation we picked then least amount of money to spend. I am
extremely glad we could collectively agree on saving some capital! Also, it made
me think how important it is to have a team that has the same goals as the
leader. It is critical to have a common agreement.

3. Think  discussions you had with your team on the crisis, and the team's
decisions. Which theory or theories in the textbook (in Chapters  1-5, 9, 16) you
have studied so far are applicable to this crisis? Explain (40 words minimum - 5
pts)

I would say that we used a transformational method of leadership. We all want to better
each other and motivate one another in order to have complete success. Also, the team
used a high level of morale and positivity which further excelled our success. “A
transformational leadership style inspires employees to strive beyond required
expectations to work toward a shared vision, whereas transactional leadership focuses
more on extrinsic motivation for the performance of specific job tasks. Learning to
balance these styles can help leaders reach their full potential.” (UMASS,1)

4. What is your demonstrated leadership style in this week’s game? Have you used
this style in your personal life or in your job as a leader? Give an example. (75
words minimum -6 pts)

Fortunately, my demonstrated leadership style for this week was a transactional leader .
I was happy with this because I believe I lead a very constructive team and I focused on
clear goals (keeping an eye on the budget). I was very straightforward about keeping the
budget tight and I adequately always communicated with my teammates. My secondary
type of leadership was Authentic. I really liked this because an Authentic leader is a
genuine leader; someone who the team looks up to and can trust!
