Day of Giving Back to the Community Hosted by Leadership Johnson County (LJC)
GREENWOOD, Ind. – March 31, 2019 – Team members from an organization, Leadership
Johnson County, successfully made a positive impact on both the downtown Greenwood
landscape as well as the kids, parents, and volunteers who participate in the Greenwood Little
League program through their project, Greenwood Little League Beautification Day.
Facing challenges is no match for the project team members for Leadership Johnson County.
Although facing many setbacks, from choosing the beneficiary to inclement weather, the team
overcame all obstacles in order to help the Greenwood Little League (GLL).
The Greenwood Little League, an affiliate of Little League International, serves local youth, ages
4-16, through its flagship baseball program. Although their six ballfields that they own and
operate are functional, they are in need of major repairs with relocation not being a viable option.
To assist GLL in its facility repair endeavor, the LJC attempted to rally a team and host a
Greenwood Little League Beautification Day on Saturday, April 6. Due to inclement weather,
however, the day of service was successfully moved to Sunday, March 31.
With their funds and hard work, the LJC team was able to provide a bike-rack holding 8
bicycles, lay and grate two dump trucks worth of gravel, sand and paint dugout bleachers, trim
grasses, mulch, and plant flowers. They even provided 500 goodie bags to Greenwood Little
Leaguers in which included mini-baseball helmets, Cracker Jacks, gumballs in the shape of
baseballs, and coupons from local supporting restaurants.
Additionally, by hosting this day of service, the team was able to formulate a plan in order
address more issues in their current facilities such as the concession stands and dugouts.
