​ Complete the following making sure to support your ideas and cite from the textbook and

other course materials per APA guidelines. After the peer review, you have a chance to
update this and format for your Electronic Portfolio due in Module 6. 1) Briefly restate your
situation from Module 1 and your role.

​ I previously talked about how I was put in a bad situation with my boss while working at a
company called Timber Builders. My boss put me in a bad spot and made me do a job that I
was not able to do due to other employees not showing up to the job site. It put a ton of risk
on the worksite and ended up in a huge mistake.
​ My boss would commonly do this to me in order to cover up his mistakes and it put immense
stress on not just me, but the business. As stated previously, I was a laborer and when
carpenters wouldn’t show up to work, my boss would essentially put me in their spot. It was
extremely dangerous and I made many mistakes.

​ 2) Describe how the symbols of the organization influenced the situation.
​ Symbolic Frame addresses people's needs for a sense of purpose. I think this is extremely
interesting because I didn’t feel like I had a sense of purpose in the company because my
boss would commonly throw me in these situations. Purpose is such an important idea
because it is a direct reflection of the company.
​ I don’t think that anyone had a sense of purpose because the organization was so
unorganized. I would say that a major symbol in many organizations is strong organization. If
a company doesn’t have organizational skills, everything will collapse. If my boss made an
effort to organize, the company would have been much better to work for.
​ 3) Recommend how you would use organizational symbols for an alternative course of
action regarding your case.
​ I would make sure to emphasize the organizational structure a lot better. If my boss were to
be able to keep good customer service, he needs to provide a symbolic frame.
​ I think that organizational symbols are extremely important. “The frame is important in
recognizing the unifying qualities of organizations and the unique symbols that motivate its
progress. It is easy to find organization and structure as a necessary source of clarity that is
beneficial in every group as discussed by the Structural Frame. Bolman & Deal (2021) I think
that it is so important to emphasize symbols because it will benefit the company as a whole.
​ 4) Reflect on what you would do or not do differently given what you have learned about this
frame.
​ If I were my boss, I would have made sure to ensure that the company was organized.
Without organization, the symbols of the company deteriorate. I think that symbols are so
crucial to the success of businesses because they represent how a company functions.
​ I think that symbols express a much larger idea than people think. Companies that have
strong symbols can Either make or break a business. Timber Builders had quite a negative
symbol because of the laziness from the top!
