Inthe cuting, slope stabisty analysis with pictorial diagrams showing approximate failure
surfaces are appended with this report for ready reference,
2.0 Laboratory Examination and Testing:
Laboratory methods in accordance with relevant standard codes of practoes are adopted to
‘ascertain the diferent essential characterises of sub-sol using fleld samples obtained in
course of fled investigations. The tests as under have been conducted to ascertain the
parameters indicated in the test The finding of these test are required to use in relevant
Engineering Designs.
‘The tests as under have been conducted to ascertain the parameters indicated In the test.
‘The finding ofthese test are used later for stability analysis,

3.0 Ground Water:
‘The depth at which groundwater is struck during boring was carefuly noted and the depth of water
table was ascertained subsequently inthe competed borehole.
+ The depth of water table inside the dil hole was measured by a “bell sounder” method
as per IS 6935:1973. After completion of ering of bore holes up to fhe desied depth, the
‘bore ole was thoroughly fished and washed by lean water. At that ime care should be
taken to ensure the stability of sides of boreholes.
+ Then bore hole was measured by increasing the probe of bell sounder with wire and!
‘measuring tape, When the bell sounder touched the water level, it was gave a ‘Plop' sound
‘and measured the water level by measuring tape attached with it
During ering of bore hole ground water able was investigated and was feund as below.

5.0 Slope stability analysis of cutting:
[Al the ch-2800, the depth of cutting is 2.95 m, the cutting slope 1.5, a8 per the crawing
Provided by the clint.
‘As per the ROSO guidelines GE: G-1, the stability of cutting slope has been checked by
software GEOS.
6.0 Analysis of cutting using GEOS Software:
‘As per the provided cross section, the total height of cuting is glven as many layers, and full
height of the cutting is analyzed by using GEOS, sofware, The software (GEOS) is used to|
perform slope stabilty analysis (embankments, earth cuts, anchored retaning strectures, MSE
Wwals etc). The slip surface is considered as circular (Bishop, Fellenis / Petterson, Janbu,
Morgenstem- Price or Spencer methods) or Polygonal
6.1 GEOS Software:
+ In analysis, choose the ital sip surface using the coordinates of the center (x,y) and is
‘radius by clicking on the interface to enter three points through which the sip surface passes
‘+ In cohesive sols rotational tp surfaces occur most often. These are modeled using circular
‘lip surfaces. This surface is used to find the erica areas ofan analyzed slope. For non-
Cohesive sols, an analysis using @ polygonal slp surface should also be 2erormed in order
to verity the slope stability
‘+ Attor choosing te intial sip surface, choose“
ishop" asthe analysis method and then set the
{ype of analysis to “Optimization. Then perform the actual verification by clicking on Analyze”
‘+ Optimization consists of finding the circular slp surface with the lowest stabity he erticl slip
surface. The optimization of circular slip surface in the slope stabilty program evaluates the
lente slope and is very reliable. This way we wil get the same resul for aerial sip surface
‘even with ital lip euraces,
+ The stabilty analysis for the crical sip surface using “Bishop” evaluaion method is found
satisfactory if Factor of safety is found to be greater than 1.4,

6.0 CONCLUSION:
+The slope stably analysis has been carried out by considering full depth cutting slope from the
OGL. Using the sofware Geos for cutting slope (H=23.95 m) of Chaiange-2800 with cutting
slope of 11.5
‘+ From analysis, the FOS is determined as 1.52 which s greater than the bast FOS of 1.4
‘+ Hence the cuting section is stable fr the cuting slope of 1:1. with respect to the properties |
‘of sub sol as mentioned in this reper
‘As ground water table is encountered at 15 m depth below EGL, water can flow out through]
cuting slope,
7.0 SUGGESTION:
However, to stable the cutting slope, following may be suggested: -
+ Retaining wall or Gabion wal of appropiate height may be constructed at the toe ofthe bottom
slope to provide lateral supporto the vertical slope.
‘+ Effective steps need to be taken to avert any eventuality of ingress of surface water in to the
cutting, This can be accomplished by prcvsion of catch water dain or berm drains.
+ For backfilof retaining wall GP, GW, SW materials should be used with 0mm fiter media can
'be used for proper dissipation of ground water present behind.
‘+ Best tas shall be constructed at each berm of slope to protect ne stope from ran cut ana Yor
smooth drainage of water. Catchment drain shall be provided for surface drainage.
‘+ If necessary, soll naling process may be adopted wih geo-net to protect he slope and sutable
‘drainage system shall be provided forthe flow of water from the top othe sop.
+ The slope stabilty canbe improved by turing because the rons the plant makes the sol stable
+ Core must be taken to prevent the slope falure during the execution of work
