Introduction: Basic concepts: population, sample, parameter, statistic, frequency distribution,

graphical interpretation, cumulative frequency distribution; primary and secondary data.
Measures of central tendency: mean, median, mode.

Measures of dispersion: range, quatile deviation, mean deviation, standard deviation, co

variance: Skewness and kurtosis, moments.

UNIT- II(Hours: 15)

Correlation: Simple: coefficient of correlation; Karl Pearson andrank correlation.

Regression: Estimationof a regression line in a bivariate distribution least squares method:

interpretation of correlation and regression coefficients; coefficient of determination.

Time Series: Time series analysis - concept and components, determination of trend (linear.
quadratic and exponential).

Index Numbers: Laspeyer's, Paasche's, Dorbish and bowley's method, Marshall-Edgeworth
