Final Project B1.4

Music and gastronomic festival of typical food and handicrafts in Chiquinquirá.
Chiquinquirá has been known as the religious capital of the country and the economic
centre of the western region for all the population in Boyacá. This is the town of the
marching horse and the Guabinas. Here, some writers and poets were born, so it’s the
cradle of a large cultural heritage too.
However, there are currently many problems that threaten the wellness of
Chiquinquirá’s people. One of this, is that the number of tourists that usually arrived to
Chiquinquirá has dropped significantly in the last six years and even more after the
pandemic, because the city has deteriorated as much as people have lost slightly their
identity and has not taken care of the city, which stopped rapidly the traditions like
peregrination and the famous antique masses. Also, there was a sharp jump of the
insecurity in the streets. Every day at least one person is stolen, which is shocking for a
small town like this. Finally, the production of wind musical instruments, another
typical trade in the city, fell abruptly since the Norato family was dissipated, the one
who led the business from generation to generation.
For these reasons, it’s proposed to make a music and gastronomic festival of typical
food and handicrafts in the main square, La Plaza de Bolivar, in the middle of June
yearly. The event consists in street stands around the square; on the one hand, sellers
offer their specialities in products, either food or drinks, to participate in a competition
at the final of the day; the competition’s winner will be the seller that offers the best
voted food in the poll. On the other hand, other kind of small entrepreneurs would
market relics, bracelets and rosaries, or musical instruments and accessories. While all
of this is happening, as a warm background, there is a big stage where solo or groups of
rising artists could present their music or dances to get known for their career’s future.
Finally, it will be a surprise artist for the end of the day to finish the event.
To make this possible, it will be needed the government’s support and we believe that
by the next year, we will have collected all the money and permissions to run the event.
Your collaboration will be of great value for the accomplishment of the following
topics: an appropriate stage, tents for the sellers, all the means of promotion, an
animator that coordinates the entrance and exit of artists, the decoration for the square
and stands, the final surprise artist and everything concerning to the poll and the prize
money.
 It is going to be needed twenty million Colombian pesos (20’000.000 COP) for
the rent and the personal needed in the installation of the stage that day.
 It is going to be rented thirty tents for the presentation of sellers that day, with a
value of one million Colombian pesos per unit (1’000.000 COP)
 We will be convoking by this year the different artists in social media to be
prepare for the date, and we will be inviting people in January of next year with
leaflets and advertising in social media, to pay for those kinds of advertising will
be needed five million Colombian pesos (5’000.000 COP)
 The animator is going to cost around five million Colombian pesos (5’000.000
COP)
 Decoration is valued in two million Colombian pesos (2’000.000 COP)
 In this moment we are looking for the indicated artist for the event, but we have
in mind that, by October, the decision will be taken and the artist get paid with a
20% of the money and the missing after it’s presented. We have budgeted fifty
million Colombian pesos for the artist (50’000.000 COP).
In conclusion, it will be required one hundred and twelve million Colombian pesos
(112’000.00 COP) to carry out the complete event. The benefits that are offered for the
community are a progressive increase in their profits: it’s proposed to include people
from all ages as a form of inclusion and to teach the community to work in groups and
build better social relationships. The competition as well, is a great opportunity to wake
up creativity between participants and enjoy the day, ending in a healthy way to spend
time in family and let the town be recognized as an invitation for new tourist every year,
supporting the local/new talents that we have.
Chiquinquirá’s people and we as the organizers would deeply appreciate your
collaboration in this event to build a better city with a happy community.
