1 Introduction
This document provides the specifccton of the Tripleplcy HP ML350 Gen10 bcsed Plctorm. This plctorm
mcy be configured in c number of wcys to provide diferent solutons. The principle configurctons cre cs cn
IPTV server cnd in some configurctons ccn clso support cdditoncl services, for excmple VoD, user portcls
or siigncige.
The bcsic confrmcton is cn ML350 Gen10 rcck mount server thct ccn be used cn IPTV, VoD or c combined
services plctorm. The server ccn cccommodcte up to 8 IPTV input devices.
Sofware Compatbility
This is c 64 bit OS bcsed on Centos 7. This server runs the Tripleplcy sofwcre relecse of Ccvemcn 1.0 or
lcter.

2 Server Specification
The HP ML350 Gen10 bcsed Plctorm uses stcndcrd, revision controlled components. It is fted with the
followinig hcrdwcre cs stcndcrd described in Tcble 1:

2.2 Hardware Options

2.2.1 IPTV Cards
The IPTV ccrds listed in Tcble 2 cre supported on the Gen10 plctorm. For full techniccl specifcctons on the
IPTV ccrds cnd the cssocicted driver sofwcre cnd cpplicctons, refer to the IPTV Product Specifccton, Ref
[1.]. Note the illustrctons below mcy difer sliightly between revisions.

The TripleCMS system mcnipulctes the content stored on c VoD server directly. However, it does require
storcige spcce for intermedicte fles, cnd these cre typicclly the scme size cs the source fle. For some tcsks,
up to three tmes the oriigincl fle spcce is required durinig video processinig.
For tcsks thct igenercte new content, such cs trcnscodinig MPEG-2 to Flcsh movie, or editnig cn existnig
video, the storcige requirements ccn igrow to twice the source fle sizes, dependinig on the processinig beinig
ccrried out.

3 Services Supported
The HP ML350 Gen10 bcsed Plctorm server ccn support c number of services simultcneously dependinig
on the configurcton, which cre detciled in Tcble 5. See the notes below describinig the ncture of the VoD,
TripleMux cnd Client dimensioninig. Beccuse of the lcrige number of combinctons of services cnd IPTV
ccrds thct is possible, we ccnnot igive cn exhcustve list here. Instecd we hcve listed the limits for ecch of
the principle services thct ccn be ofered. For detcils of specifc requirements plecse speck to your scles
contcct who ccn help dimension specifc systems.

IPTV Cards Up to 8 physiccl ccrds, PCIe only. These ccrds ccn be cny
combincton of the ccrds listed in secton 2.2.1, but plecse note

3.1 Notes on dimensioning
3.1.1 IPTV Cards
A mcximum of 8 physiccl ccrds ccn be supported. Ecch physiccl ccrd ccn provide up to four interfcces cnd
the server ccn support c totcl of 36 interfcces (diigitcl or cncloigue in cny combincton).

3.1.2 VoD Streams

The VoD strecms indiccte the totcl number of strecms of SD video thct ccn be strecmed concurrently. A
VoD strecm ccn be cn on-demcnd video, cn NVoD chcnnel, c video csset requested by siigncige, or c
recordinig mcde vic TripleTV+ the network video recorder.

3.1.3 Networking
The server is configured cs stcndcrd with c sinigle network interfcce providinig both the strecminig output
cnd cccess to the mcncigement fectures of the system. For hiigh throuighput cpplicctons custom
configurctons ccn be provided includinig bonded opercton to sinigle or ducl switches.
3.1.4 TripleMux streams
A TripleMux strecm is either cn imcige strecmer or c strecm PID multplex. A typiccl scencrio where cn
imcige is beinig cdded to c rcdio chcnnel will require two TripleMux strecms.

3.1.5 TripleChoice and TripleSign Clients

Where c server is beinig used for both TripleChoice cnd Siigncige, the totcl combined number of clients
should be cclculcted cs follows:
If primcrily c siigncige server, then the server ccn support the mcximum number of siigncige clients quoted,
plus 10% of the TripleChoice clients.
If primcrily c TripleChoice server, then the server ccn support the mcximum number of TripleChoice clients
quoted, plus 10% of the TripleSiign clients.

5 Building ML350 Gen10 servers

In order to fully support the rcnige of IPTV ccrds there cre some specifc BIOS setnigs which must be
configured. These cre in cdditon to the stcndcrd instructons for kick-stcrtnig servers.
Gen 1 support / compatbility instructons for HP ML 350 Gen10 Server.
Additonal setngs: to enable array (as it has to be created manually)
1. Power up cnd press F9 to bios/setup/system utlites (when it cppecrs on screen).
2. Go to System Configurcton -> BIOS/Plctorm Configurcton (RBSU), Virtucliscton Optons - Set cll
to discbled. (Hit F10 to scve on ecch opton)
3. Go to System Configurcton -> BIOS/Plctorm Configurcton (RBSU), System Optons -> Server
Avcilcbility -> Automctc Power-On -> Alwcys Power On (Hit F10 to scve on ecch opton)
4. Go to System Configurcton -> BIOS/Plctorm Configurcton (RBSU), Boot Optons -> Boot Mode ->
UEFI Mode (Hit F10 to scve on ecch opton)

Please be aware of other drives for additonal arrays. Bay 1 and 2 have to be used for 2x 1TB System disks in
RAID 1 and bootable. Arrays for all the other drives (for storage) can be created here as well, without being
them bootable. These are hot swap drives so there is no need to do it here, only system array is obligatory.

Below Opton is cn equivclent to BIOS setnig 3. Go to System Configurcton -> BIOS/Plctorm Configurcton
(RBSU), System Optons -> Server Avcilcbility -> Automctc Power-On -> Alwcys Power On
1. To mcke the server boot up cutomctcclly cfer power loss, iLO hcs to be used.
2. Connect network to the server runninig dhcp cnd check the IP cddress (from loig or reboot the
server - it should be displcyed on the very frst screen)
3. loigin vic Administrctor, pcssword is on the plcstc, slide-out tcig in front of the server)
4. Go to Power Mcncigement -> Server Power -> Auto Power-On -> Alwcys Power On cnd hit submit,
siign out cnd job done!
TIP: Sometmes the opton is not cvcilcble untl the server boots up fully (even without OS, just let it boot).
Afer 2-3 minutes refresh the iLO pcige or re-loigin, it should be bcck there.
