Ans. Ibrahim (AS) saw in a dream that he was slaughtering his son, Isma'il (AS) for the
acceptance of Allah.

Ans. Ibrahim (AS) found his son was ready to offer himself for sacrifice. Isma'il (AS)
said to his father: "In shaa'-Allah, you will find me among the steadfast."

Ans. Allah sent the angel Jibril (AS) with a ram to slaughter in place of Isma'il (AS). This

society.

Ans. Our Prophet (SAW) always loved them, greeted them and even played with them.

Ans. Muslims should have good relations among themselves in order to have an ideal
Islamic society.

Ans. When we exercise good character, we achieve two benefits:

Ans. Our Prophet (SAW) was the best example of moral character because he never
spoke bad, indecent words to others. He always advised people to deal with others
considerately.

Ans. In light of the Prophet’s example we can conclude that a Muslim should have
patience and endurance. It is evidence of iman and akhlaq. It is also a form of jihad to
discipline the self.

Ans. He is not strong who knocks someone down, but strong is the one who controls
himself when angry.

Ans. Patience is a quality of the true mu’min and is a sign of his righteousness. A
mu’min does not repel an evil with another evil rather, he repels it with what is better,
not seeking revenge for himself.
Q11. What is meant by gratitude?
Ans. Gratitude means acknowledgement of a favour or of assistance done by another.
Q12. How does Allah reward the thankful Muslim?
Ans. He promises to increase His favours and blessings when we are grateful to Him.

Ans. Gratitude to Allah means to obey His commands, practice righteousness, and use
all His gifts in the best way.

Ans. Regular attendance in the masjid for salah five times a day is bound to make a
believer punctual in all his activities.

Ans. He learns to carry out all of his duties at the proper times. He neither puts off his
work nor does he leave it unfinished. He does his job properly and finishes it on time.
Such an individual sets a good example for others.

Ans. When someone does not respect time, he makes life difficult for himself and for
those with whom he associates, both at home and at work.

Q1. What is the position of parents in Islam?
Ans. Being obedient to Allah, our Creator, and His Messenger (SAW) is most
important in Islam. Next to that is obedience to parents. To be polite, kind and helpful
to them is obligatory for every Muslim.
Q2. What are our duties towards parents?
Ans. Allah commands us to be very good and kind to our parents. In appreciation of
their love and affection, we are to do our best to help them, respect them and love
them. As they grow older, we must treat them kindly and gently. We must support and
help them financially when they need it, especially in old age or when they are sick.
We must try to provide them with everything they need.
Q3. Who are your blood relatives?
Ans. Everyone with whom we share a blood relation is our relative. They include
brothers, sisters and their children, paternal uncles, aunts and their children, maternal
uncles, aunts and their children, and so on.
Q4. What are the benefits of keeping a good relationship with our relatives?
Ans. When we fulfil this obligation, the feeling of closeness will grow. Relatives will
help each other in times of need.
Q5. To whom must a Muslim be most dutiful?
Ans. Our obligations are first to our parents and grandparents, then to our brothers,
sisters, and other close relatives.

Ans. Islam puts great emphasis on maintaining the ties of relationships with kith and
Kin, even with non-Muslim relatives.

has completed his iman.

Ans. He faced grave danger and calamities many times in his life but never showed
any weakness, timidity, or reluctance. He was always steadfast in upholding the truth
and doing good to others.

Ans. Good company is a valuable blessing. A sincere friend is a refuge in time of
distress and an honest guide who directs his companion to righteousness and success.

Ans. The company of wicked people leads one to disregard morals and commit evil. It
causes trouble and makes life miserable.

Ans. Keep company with people as you like except for five: a liar, a fool, a tyrant, a

Q1. What are the main occasions for Islamic celebration?
Ans. Islam has two main religious festivals: 'Eid al-Fitr and "Eid al-Adha."
Q2. What is 'Eid al-Fitr?
Ans. Eid al-Fitr is celebrated after the completion of Ramadhan fasting. It is the festival
of ending siyam.
Q3. What is 'Eid al-Adh-ha?
Ans. Eid al-Adha is the festival of sacrifice in remembrance of the sacrifice of Prophet
Ibrahim (AS), and coincides with Hajj.
Q4. What is 'aqiqah?
Ans. Muslims have other occasions such as aqiqah. After the birth of a child, Muslims
slaughter animals according to the rules of Shari'ah. They invite people to eat the
meat of the aqiqah.
Q5. How should Muslims celebrate special occasions?
Ans. Islam requires Muslims to celebrate these occasions according to the Shari'ah. All
un-Islamic practices must be avoided on these occasions.
Q6. What are the principles of Islamic dress?
Ans. Types of clothing which show pride, vanity or indecency are prohibited. Men
should wear clothes suitable to their manliness. Islam forbids men from wearing pure
silk and gold. Women should wear clothing which covers the entire body.
Q7. What kind of dress is prohibited in Islam?
Ans. Both men and women should avoid:
(1) Showy garments
(2) Wearing hairpieces or wigs
(3) Extravagance
(4) Imitating the dress of the kuffar
(5) Imitating the dress of the opposite sex
Q8. What kind of dress was condemned by Prophet Muhammad (SAW)?
Ans. Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said: "Allah condemns those men who dress like
women and those women who dress like men."
Q9. What is the meaning of equality in the sight of Allah?
Ans. Islam teaches that in the sight of Allah all humans are equal but they are not
necessarily identical. They are different in abilities, potentials, ambitions, wealth and
so on. Yet none of these differences mean superiority of one man or race over
another.
Q10. Who is superior to others in Islam?
Ans. There is no superiority for an Arab over a non-Arab, nor for a non-Arab over an
Arab, nor for a white person over a black person, nor for a black person over a white
person except in taqwa (ie., fear of Allah and righteousness.
Q11. How is the equality of Muslims expressed?
Ans. The principles of equality are based on the following facts:
(1) All men are created by Allah.
(2) All men are descended from Adam (AS), and Adam was created from clay.
(3) Allah is just and kind to all His creatures. (4) Allah will judge every person on the
basis of his own attitudes and deeds.
Q12. How did 'Ali (RA) help Rasulullah (SAW)?
Ans. He put his life in danger for the Prophet (SAW) at the time of the Hijrah. and he
fought many battles accompanying the Prophet (SAW). At Khaibar, it was "Ali (RA) who
rushed in, breaking the fortress door with all his vigor, causing defeat of the Jews with
his heroic assault.
Q13. How did 'Ali (RA) die?
Ans. During this turmoil, Ali (RA), the fourth Khalifah of Islam was fatally wounded by
one Ibn Muljam, and after three days he died at the age of 59.

Ans. She gave birth to five children: three sons - Hasan, Husain and Muhsin, and two
daughters - Zainab and Umm Kulthum.
