4. What could be the reason why some people are getting late?
5. What should you do, in order to stop the habit of being late?
6. Why do we need to practice punctuality?

The teacher will expound the topic.

Punctuality in simple words refers to completing the task within the expected time. It is the habit of doing a
task in time. Children who are punctual will be admired by their parents and teachers. They will become
examples that others will follow.
Why should we practice PUNCTUALITY?
 Being punctual means respecting the value of time. It also reflects an individual’s respect for other people.
 Punctual children will always get success in their studies. During school term time, punctuality ensures that
they don’t miss any part of the lesson.
 It helps in reducing anxiety and improving the self-confidence.
 It demands patience, consistency, discipline and a positive attitude.
 It represents you as a ‘Man of Words’ in front of others.
 A punctual person gets an advantage of enjoying the every moment of the event.
 Being punctual keeps you away from rush and accidents.
 Punctuality makes you win the trust of others.
 Being punctual makes you free of worries and helps you in doing your best.

The teacher will present a quote by Shakespeare.

“ Better three hours too soon than a minute too late’

Guide Questions:
1. What do we mean by this passage?
2. Do you agree? Why and why not?
3. If you are the kind of person who have the habit of being late, are you willing to change that? Why and why
not?
4. How can you show others the value or importance of punctuality?
III. GENERALIZATION
When you are on time, you are the one in charge of your schedule. When you are habitually late, it
shows a distinct lack of control.

Here are some tips to make sure that you would not be late:
▪ Check if the things you need are ready ahead of time.
▪ Bring out the clothes and shoes that you will wear.
▪ Keep all the things you need in one place.
▪ Ask your parents to make sure you make up to the alarm.
▪ Set the alarm clock and go to bed early.
▪ Wake up upon hearing the sound of the alarm clock.
▪ Leave early so that you will arrive at the place on time.

IV. EVALUATION
Read the story below.

ONE MONDAY MORNING

One Monday morning, in Lotlot and Ziggy’s room.

Lotlot: Hurry up, Ziggy. What’s taking you so long? The school bus will be here soon.
Ziggy: I can’t find my book about dinosaurs. I need it for my Science report. Where could I have placed it?
Mother: You should have prepared all your things last night, Ziggy. I always tell you to do that.
Lotlot: I will look for it. Hurry, fix yourself and your things.
Mother: Here’s the school bus, and you are not ready yet. You should try being more punctual, Ziggy. The
other bus riders will be late for school because of you. The driver would not wait for you next time.
Ziggy: I’m sorry, Mama. I promise, this won’t happen again.
