My name is Garnetta and I have been working as a Junior Pharmaceutical and Food Inspector at
Indonesian National Agency of Food and Drug Control (DKI Jakarta Province) for 7 years. I graduated
from food science and technology bachelor programme at University of Gadjah Mada on 2012.
During my college life, there were some achievements such as becoming laboratory assistant for
practical courses, participant in student exchange programme to Ehime University, Japan and
conduct undergraduate research at Chalmers University, Sweden. In the future, I wish to become
Associate Pharmaceutical and Food Inspector and also Trainer Specialist at Indonesian FDA.

Indonesia has many agricultural resources that can be utilized as functional foods which are potential
to be developed as export commodity. Most of the producers of functional foods products are Small
Medium Enterprises whom tend to produce the foods based on hereditary recipes and processing or
just spontaneously follow the market trend with minimum knowledge in food safety and technology.
In addition, based on food advertisement monitoring report (from Indonesian FDA-Jakarta Province)
through the last 4 years, around 70% functional food advertisements on the online platform, has
health claim but not supported by scientific data. This SMEs are still also limited in the infrastructure
and food management system, so it became a drawback for them to obtain food registration number
at Indonesian FDA. With this condition, ensuring safety and quality of the foods produces by this
SMEs became essential, not only to protect the safety of the consumers but also to upgrade their
quality in order to join and compete in the global market. Giving assistance and support for the
Small Medium Enterprises to be able joining the global market and ensuring the sustainability of the
businesses is also part of agenda at the National Medium Term Development Plan 2020-2024 ,
National Industry Development Master Plan 2015-2035, Indonesian FDA Strategic Plan for 2020-
2024.

In order to solve the problems above and to support the government goals realization, I believe that
it is important to increase my professional capacity as a civil servant. Thus, I intend to pursue higher
study in the Food Science and Agribusiness master programme at Monash University, Australia. I am
interested in this programme because it offers broader knowledge in the field of food science and
also agribusiness, covering the food science foundation studies, food agribusiness studies, advanced
food science agribusiness studies and advanced practices. Through the food science courses, I wish
that I will have a deeper understanding about the food chemistry and biochemistry, food
engineering, food microbiology and safety, as well as food science and technology in practice. Then, I
hope that I can broaden my knowledge regarding challenges in global agribusiness, food, nutrition,
and health, future food supply and security, and customer focused innovation through the food
agribusiness courses. By pursuing higher study at Australia, I also plan to learn about how their
government support the business sustainability of the small medium enterprises and ensure the
safety and quality of food produced by these small medium enterprises. Located at eastern suburbs
of Melbourne, Clayton Campus of Monash University give an ideal environment for students to have
study-life balance and allow students to build network and connection with other international
students, university staffs, and also lecturers.

After graduating from Food Science and Agribusiness master programme at Monash University,
Australia, for the first year I plan to make a review on the regulation and policy regarding functional
foods in Indonesia and proposal to the Indonesian FDA Head Office regarding the monitoring system
for functional food producers and distributors. Next, I also plan to collaborate with other
governmental institution in the provincial level such as health office, cooperatives, small and medium
enterprise and trade office, industry and trade office, food crop agriculture office, marine and fishery
office, to hold workshops for Small Medium Enterprises for several topics regarding the food science
and agribusiness. I also intend to join the Indonesian Society for Nutraceutical and Functional Food.

For the mid-term plan, I plan to conduct duty as Senior Pharmaceutical and Food Inspector and
became member of the International Society for Nutraceutical and Functional Food. Then, I wish to
expand the collaboration project with other governmental institution in assisting and supporting the
Small Medium Enterprises especially the functional food producers to join the global trade. I also
plan to conduct research collaboration project with National Research and Innovation Agency in the
field of functional foods and publish academic papers.

For long-term plan, I plan to continue my study to doctoral degree to develop appropriate food
processing technology for Small Medium Enterprises, especially in the field of functional foods,
become Associate Pharmaceutical and Food Inspector and also Trainer Specialist at Indonesian FDA
in order to give more contribution to the institution and also the country. I hope that I can be actively
involved in the Society for Nutraceutical and Functional Food, both national and international, and
become a part of the team which establish and update regulation and policy regarding functional
foods in Indonesia.

I consider myself to be a good master candidate for this programme because I have known myself as
a hardworking, committed and responsible person, one of the proof is that by becoming Employee of
The Year 2022 at my office. I am passionate about learning and increasing my competencies as civil
servant so that I can implement and share the knowledge to many people and give more
contribution to my institution and my country. I hope that I will be considered as one of the accepted
candidates for the LPDP scholarship and have the chance to continue my study.

3. Bisa tdk dihubungkan dgn Visi Indonesia 2045 ? Mgkin pilar 1 dan 2 berkaitan dgn essay ?
Dalam mewujudkan impian tersebut disusun Visi Indonesia Tahun 2045 dengan 4 (empat)
pilar, yaitu: (1) Pembangunan Manusia serta Penguasaan Ilmu Pengetahuan dan Teknologi,
(2) Pembangunan Ekonomi Berkelanjutan, (3) Pemerataan Pembangunan, serta (4)
