STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
Introduction:
I heartily thank you for patiently considering my application. I want to introduce myself as Harry Patel. I am received
interested studying Bachelor of Health Sciences - Public Health program, Aug 2024 Intake. This statement of purpose
is my humble attempt to present an outline of my academic and professional candidature. I hope that this attempt
would turn appealing to you.
Academic Background:
I completed my matriculation (10th standard) in 2021, achieving a commendable 60 % from Central Board of
Secondary Education Delhi. Consequently, I completed my intermediate (12th standard) in 2023 education at the same
institution, with Biology, Chemistry, and Physics as my core subjects. I excelled in this pursuit, achieving a
remarkable 65% overall.
English Language Proficiency:
Demonstrating proficiency in the English language, I undertook the IELTS exam, securing a noteworthy overall band
score of 6.5. My proficiency breaks down as follows: an exceptional 7.0 in listening, a commendable 5.5 in
reading, a respectable 6.5 in writing, and a confident 6.0 in speaking. This proficiency underscores my ability to
effectively communicate and engage in academic pursuits within an English-speaking environment.
Reason for the course:
I have completed my 12th Grade from Science Stream with a specialization in Biology,Chemistry, Physics. Building
upon this foundation, I am now embarking on a journey to Canada to pursue a Bachelor's degree in the Health Science
program. The purpose of my visit to USA is to further enhance my academic and professional qualifications in the
realm of health sciences.
The decision to enroll in the Health Science program is driven by a deep-seated passion for understanding and
contributing to the field of healthcare. I am keenly interested in exploring the intricate dynamics between science,
human well-being, and the application of innovative solutions to real-world health challenges. Through this program, I
aspire to acquire a comprehensive understanding of various health disciplines, ranging from anatomy and physiology
to public health and healthcare administration.
By undertaking the Health Science program in USA, I aim to broaden my horizons, gain exposure to international
healthcare practices, and ultimately contribute meaningfully to the advancement of healthcare both within USA and, in
the future, upon my return to my home country. This academic journey represents a crucial step towards realizing my
aspirations of making a positive impact on healthcare systems and the well-being of individuals. This option can never
be accessible in India and the bachelor’s program in health science- public health attempts to study all of the factors
that impact health and scrutinize various factors that can be manipulated to improve and promote the need for health
science- public health in today’s digital world in the best interest of the public. The reason why I applied to study the
Program at Carolina University USA is the very fact that it applies the most current technical and scientific knowledge
to study the physical, biological, chemical, social and psychosocial factors in the environment. The program at
Carolina University USA, meets the updated standards of health science- public health. The Program will help me
bring the most well-composed and upgraded knowledge back to my country where it is very needed and use it to
improve the outlook of people on public health in general.
Furthermore, my prior experience in biology has instilled in me a strong appreciation for research methodologies and
scientific inquiry. This will undoubtedly be an asset as I engage in coursework and potentially contribute to research
projects within the Health Science program. In essence, my academic background in Biology equips me with the
essential foundation to excel in the Health Science program, enabling me to bridge the gap between biological
sciences and health-related disciplines. This integrated approach will empower me to make meaningful contributions
to the field of healthcare and underscores my commitment to a well-rounded education in health sciences.
 Importance of Public Health in home country:

Being an overly populated country, India still has managed to overcome myriad healthcare crisis which is a
significant evidence of its successful execution of the healthcare policies and perfect utilization of the medical
workforce. However, I feel there is a need of an upgrade in the hospitals and healthcare management sector. But
that does not outweigh the fact that market size of Indian health sector is increasing gradually and in no time soon,
it will become one of the largest global markets in terms of size. This will increase the demand for superior
healthcare facilities, enhancement of the medical policies, spreading healthcare awareness and consciousness
among the people and many more. This proportionally increases the need of the healthcare administrator and
service manager, where individuals like me who have accomplished the skill targeting to the actual scenario from
well reputed college at an international level needs to play a crucial role.

Incentives to return to India:

I’ve laid a well-framed path once I return to India. My professional and home ties are as follows:
Professional Ties:

After completing my graduate certificate program in Fitness and health promotion, I would join the health care MNCs
in India in my capacity as a Clinical Informaticist, Informatics Analyst, and Information Specialist. Biotic
Healthcare, USV Private Limited, Serdia Pharmaceuticals, Harson Laboratories, and Divi’s Laboratories are
some of the highly esteemed healthcare MNCs in India. The average salary of a Health Information specialist is about
5.5 lakhs INR a year which continues to reach up to 10 lakhs INR with experience.

Some of the other potential MNC investors in India are also setting up their hospitals, thus, providing plenty
of jobs in this domain. They are:

o Parkway Group, Singapore: The healthcare company has already penetrated the Indian market. It is
building Apollo Gleneagles in association with JV, a 325-bed multi-specialty hospital for $ US 29 Mn
in Mumbai, India.
o Pacific Healthcare Holding, Singapore: One of Singapore’s leading healthcare providers is coming
up with Pacific Medical in Hyderabad, India.
o Columbia Asia, Malaysia: It’s already set up in Bangalore, India with an overall 75-bed hospital in
Hebbal, Bangalore.

The Indian healthcare industry is experiencing robust growth, presenting numerous career opportunities for
professionals. In the upcoming decade, the combination of heightened consumer focus, advancements in the medical
insurance sector, and the demand for improved services and products are poised to transform this sector, which stands
as the country's second-largest employer.
Forecasts indicate that the Indian healthcare industry is set to expand at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of
16%, reaching a value of US$ 160 billion in 2017 from its previous value of US$ 92 billion in 2013. As a country with
a burgeoning population, India's per capita healthcare expenditure has risen at a CAGR of 11%, progressing from US$
58 in 2011 to US$ 70 billion in 2013. This figure is expected to further increase, potentially reaching US$ 90 by 2015.
The factors propelling the advancement of the healthcare sector include rising incomes, improved accessibility to top-
notch healthcare facilities, and increased emphasis on personal health and hygiene.
Why USA and not India?

USA’s esteemed education system, renowned for its quality and emphasis on research and practical experience, serves
as an ideal platform for me to pursue my academic goals. The multicultural environment and diverse student
community in USA will provide me with valuable opportunities to engage in cross-cultural learning and collaboration,
enriching my perspective and honing my interpersonal skills. The quality of teaching in USA is excellent at all levels.
The encouragement to undertake original research and share our opinions on critical issues in our field of study as a
student in USA is a remarkable feature of USA’s education. They also collaborate with other students, teachers,
professors, and instructors. All of this opens up limitless personal and professional development, opportunities
preparing us for the workplace, and a prosperous career that I intend to have in my field of interest.

Why Carolina University USA?

I had already gone through various colleges globally and narrowed my choices according to my area of interest. The
diverse range and specific outcomes-based program of Carolina University USA lured my attention, specifically
Health informatics, Nursing, and the list continues. So, I looked into it further, and I ended up with healthcare
administration, which aligns with my future goals and my country's current need for proper healthcare management to
improve in the ruler area Over the years, Carolina University USA has formed collaborations with several successful
local, national, and worldwide businesses, resulting in curriculum innovations and considerable job prospects for
students. Also, this college has highly trained and substantial industrial experienced professors along with well-
equipped labs and other facilities. I feel that this college will become the platform for me where I can learn about
various facets of healthcare administration like leadership skills, healthcare operations, financial practices, laws, and
ethics.
