Course Description:
This multidisciplinary five credit-hour module provides a comprehensive and integrated
coverage of anatomy, histology, physiology, embryology, pathophysiology, microbiology,
biochemistry and pharmacology relating to the respiratory system is discussed in an integrated
manner. The course includes lectures, practical sessions, small group discussion and clinically
oriented seminars will be part of this module to enhance self-directed learning.
General Objectives
Aim 1: Identify and describe the anatomical and histological appearance of different parts of the

Aim 2: Define the most common types of respiratory diseases and their treatment (Asthma,
COPD, Respiratory infections, respiratory tumours)
2
A8- Understanding the factors and phases of asthma development include the main
immunoglobulin mediates the disease (IgE).
B- Intellectual Skills
By the end of the course, students will be able to:
B1- Integrate the basic anatomical & physiological facts of respiratory system with clinical data.
B2- Correlate functional alterations of common pathological conditions and diseases of
respiratory system with clinical data.
B3- Use problem solving skills in a variety of practical and clinical situations related to
respiratory
System.

Assessment Plan
A) Assessment Methods
Formative Assessment
It is a part of learning process and is not included in the module allocated marks. The goal of
a formative assessment is to monitor student learning to provide ongoing feedback that can
help students identify their strengths and weaknesses and target areas that need work. It also
helps faculty recognize where students are struggling and address problems immediately and
can be used by instructors to improve their teaching and by students to improve their
learning.
- Quizzes
- Draw a concept map in class to represent their understanding of a topic
- Submit one or two sentences identifying the main point of a lecture
- One-minute papers on a specific subject matter
- Lesson exit tickets to summarize what students have learnt
