3 Introduction
This document describes how to swap DUL20 with new BB5216. Take into
consideration that this activity impacts ongoing traffic.

Swap Procedure Step by step

1) DUL20: Verify SW release on existing DUL20 (On Site) and eventually

proceed with SW Upgrade

2) DUL20: Backup CV to be transferred on new BB5216 (On Site)

3) Physically change the DUL20 with the BB 5216 in the same position

4) BB5216: Upgrade to L19.Q3 (On Site)

5) BB5216: Restore CV (On Site)

6) License Installation (Remote)

4 Requirements
• Before reaching the site: L19.Q3 has to be downloaded to the
local PC using E/// vpn.

• FTP server (i.e. FileZilla Server)

• FTP client (i.e. FileZilla Client)

• Putty

• RBS Element Manager

• Serial Cable

• Ethernet Cable

• LMT splitter cable (LTY 151 1018/1)

5.1 Connecting Clients

To prepare the client computer for the on-site activity, do the following:

1 Using Ethernet cable, connect the client computer to the Fast Ethernet
port (LMTB) of the DUL20.

2 To ensure eNodeB connectivity with Element Manager PC it is necessary

to change PC Local Area Network IP address to belong to the same sub-
network as the eNodeB.

3 In order to avoid EMAS connectivity issues, it is recommended to stop

Symantec (Symantec Endpoint Protection → Change Settings →
Current Location=Out of Ericsson Premises. Then Symantec
Endpoint Protection→ Status → Options →Disable Network Threat
Protection)

4 Start EMAS

5 Enter the local RBS O&M IP address as requested. The IP address is

169.254.1.10 then click Connect

5.2 Create a CV to backup

• From Drop Down Menu select Upgrade and Backup, On the right
panel select CV Tab and click Create CV

type field and click Execute button.

Before starting the procedure is necessary to set DUL20 security mode to

OFF. Open a telnet session to the node using Putty.

5.2.2 DUL20 Backup CV

• Start FTP Server (es. Filezilla Server)

• Using RBS Element Manager, from Drop Down Menu select Upgrade
and Backup, On the right panel select CV Tab, right click on the
previous created CV (es. Backup_DUL), then select Put to FTP.

• Wait until this action will be successfully completed and click Close.

6 Physically change the DUL20 for the BB 5216 (On Site)

Physically change the DUL20 with the BB 5216 in the same position. There
are 3 options of DUL20 on site:

• DUL20 in RBS 6101 with RRUs and optical fibers

• DUL20 on RBS 6101 with radios and feeder

• DUL20 in RBS 6601 inside Tx cabinet.

Install the RPM77701/01200 signal cable using the same position in the TCU
on the same RBS 6101.

Connect the 3 optical fibers of the 3 RRUs in the same position.

If necessary, change the TSR432151 / 2000 ethernet cable using the same
position on the Carrier Ethernet IP port.

used.

In this option no external signal cable is required in the RBS 6601.

Connect the cables of the RRUs in the same position.

If necessary, change the TSR432151 / 2000 ethernet cable using the same
position on the Carrier Ethernet IP port.

7 BB5216: Verify Basic Package (On Site)

Upgrade BB5216 to L19.Q3 (On Site).

Verify if the basic package is the correct one: otherwise BB5216 Format with
New Basic Package Loading Procedure is needed.

8 BB5216: SW Upgrade (On Site)

Upgrade BB5216 to L19.Q3 (On Site).

9 BB5216: Restore CV (On Site)
