Say Cheese and Die!

1. Padlocked: a small metal lock.


2. Glances: to give a short quick look.
3. Whined: a sad and long sound.
4. Urged: a strong wish.
5. Slid: simple past and past participle of slide.
6. Weed-choked: when someone can’t breathe.
7. Overgrown: Covered with plants that had grown a lot.
8. Limb: an arm or a leg of a living being.
9. Oak: a large tree common in northern countries.
10. Drag: to pull something along a surface.
11. Reluctantly: to do something we don’t want to, so you do it slow.
12. Hedge: a line of small trees planted close.
13. Gingerly: to do something in a careful way.
14. Gasping: to take a short, quick breath through the mouth
15. Stood: simple past and past participle of stand.
16. Sprawling: a place covered with buildings in a large area.
17. Lawn: An area with grass.
18. Loosened: to make something less tight.
19. Wiping: to clean something with a cloth or something similar.
20. Sleeve: the part of a clothes that covers the arm.
21. Drily: to be fun in a way that it’s obvious.
22. Padding: something used to protect something or give it shape.
23. Teased: to laugh at someone or say rude things about them.
24. Trunk: the thick main stem of a tree.
25. Rubbing: to press or be pressed against something with a circular or up-and-down
repeated movement.
26. Straightening: to straight something.
27. Snapped: to break something thin with a cracking sound.
28. Gripped: to hold tightly.
29. Huddled: to stand or sit close together.
30. Snapshot: a photograph.
