You are on page 1of 2

It started with you being exposed to a windy, dusty breeze on the bushy path you route home from

school on an August evening. You got home, and you had a cold bath with plenty of water flowing down
from your hair to the other part of your body.

You still felt as if debris was still lurking in your eyes, so you decided to inform mummy about it, and all
she did was pat you on the back and tell you to sleep, and the debris would be off before you're awake.

You obeyed calmly, and after you woke, the feeling reduced but didn't disappear. Mum took her care a
step further, she applied two drops to her eye medicine on you, and you felt relieved before nightfall.

The incidence repeated itself some two other times. Still, you've become a bonafide eye doctor carefully
trained by mummy, you repeated mommy's procedures, and it worked like magic, in fact, you even
shared the solution with your friends at school, and they all called you a doctor making you feel on top
of the world.

Many months later, you begin to have difficulty seeing at night (blurred night vision); on other occasions,
you couldn't see what's by your side without turning your head and many other complications.

You complained to the “senior doctor" mummy, and she discarded it, making you believe those signs
never existed and talk less of happening. You continued with life, not until many years when you were
required to do a comprehensive eye test as one of the fitness tests to ascertain your healthiness in the
tertiary institution; alas, you were invited to see the ophthalmologist as you couldn't pass the eye test. A
Series of tests were conducted, and symptoms were recorded, including blurred night vision as the
physician helped you to remember them through his many questions.

The ophthalmologists sighed and said, ‘this is a complicated case; you've waited too long, and the eyes
health has deteriorated, but it is not beyond remedy only that surgery will be required which if
successful, a pair of glasses will be prescribed afterwards as you are on your way to partial blindness, but
I am glad because it is not too late.’

Love your eyes. Protect your vision. Your eyes light your being and help you to pursue your vision and
reason for existence.
