Assumptions and filters

1. For the selection of vendors for different materials used in the manufacturing of garment, I have used
indiamart.com exclusively, listing out all the authentic vendors with their first-hand
information.

2. With the availability of plethora of vendors on the platform, the narrowing of the selection of 3
vendors for different materials is done on the basis of the initial understanding of the product
quality that can be made by looking at the pictures of the product uploaded by the vendor on
indiamart.com.

3. Additionally, another check that has been kept to ensure an authentic collection of vendors is a brief
look at the background of the mentioned vendors.

4. The units of measurement across different vendors are different, but there is an attempt to simplify
them and make them comparable.

Factors for choosing one vendor from the three previously chosen vendors.

While the initial selection was an easy attempt to eliminate the non-potential suppliers, this stage considers
more variables while taking the decision to select the best alternative out of the 3 chosen vendors. The
factors taken into consideration are

1. Price- Needless to say, price is one of the most important considerations as it helps in regulating the
profit margin of the business. In the given case, the prices listed on indiamart.com are considered as
final binding information and the decision is taken on that basis only.

2. Quality- Quality is an important factor as it highlights the brand value. Better the quality, better is
the perception amongst client/ end consumers. In this case, the quality is analysed on the basis of
appearance of the products in the pictures officially uploaded by the vendors on indiamart.com.

3. Ratings- Most of the sellers on indiamart.com have received a rating out of 5. This helps (is
assumed) us get an idea of the past performance of party and hence drive our decision accordingly.

4. Additional credits- Some of the sellers have received an additional accreditation from
indiamart.com (such as TrustSEAL, Leading seller etc.) that adds to the confidence that we can
attach to the potential supplier.

The other factor that does have a significant role is Delivery time. But due to lack of availability of any
information with respect to the delivery on the website, this factors has not been taken into consideration for
this report.

1Kg of packing. This would give the per piece costs of Swis Pac, Bluepack and Pelican Poly as Rs. 2, Rs.
1.15 and Rs. 1.90 respectively.
This simplifies our decision, by accepting Bluepack Enterprises as the ideal supplier of poly/ courier bags to
the company.

 They offer the best quality product at a marginally higher price.
  While they have a lower rating, the number of reviews received is more than any other vendor,
which highlights a more prominent presence in the industry.

At the end, there are some other materials for whom the vendors have not been specified individually. The
materials included in this are Packaging Foam roll and Pins for packaging.
These items however have been considered while making the Bill of Materials.
