AG CAMPUS - Green Infrastructure Opportuni:es

Wednesday, February 10, 2021

I have begun to learn my way through the myriad of people/concerns to improve the GI and
Landscape Architecture on this campus. SDll learning - the most recent email from Jason Penny
re: permeable paver iniDaDves was disheartening:

“My concern with permeable pavement would be the size of our snow removing equipment
damaging it due to the so;ness of the material. We also use a lot of salt on our parking lots and
fear this would cause a shortened li; expectancy in a higher traffic area. As menBoned in the
email, I believe the tender for the library has already been completed. As for horseshoe
crescent, it may be a an area to consider but we also need to look at what our facility renewal
plans are in the next few years. We would not want to install a system like this and damage it
with major facility renovaBons.”

Below are imagery of the projects within the Table. Of importance is that Dal AC and my Green
Infrastructure Performance Lab will be hosDng the first Green Infrastructure Conference in the
AtlanDc Provinces in October 2022. This is being marketed for landscape architects, engineers,
design-builders, and sim. Thus, if we have these projects in the ground OR show acDvely during
conference construcDon (Saturday, October during Annual APALA MeeDng), that would be nice.
