A. Preliminary Activities
Greetings
Goodmorning class, how are you? Goodmorning Teacher! We are fine, thank you!
Prayer
Let us all stand and pray (Pupils will pray)
3. Checking of attendance
May I know who are the absent today? No one is absent teacher
It's nice to hear that you are all present today.
4. Checking of assignments
Do you have any assignments? None teacher
5. Recall classroom rules
In this class, I have 3 rules. Rule number 1, be
quiet. Rule number 2, if you want to answer just
raise your hand. And rule number 3, Be respectful
and kind to your classmates.
B. Developing Activities
1. Motivation
Do you know the song "You are my Sunshine?
So please stand up and we will sing, okay class? Yes teacher!
" You are my Sunshine" Yes teacher!
You are my sunshine
My only sunshine
You make me happy
When skies are gray
You'll never know, dear
How much I love you
Please don't take
My sunshine away
The other night, dear
As I lay sleeping
I dreamed I held you
In my arms
When I awoke, dear
I was mistaken
So I hung my head and I cried
You are my sunshine
My only sunshine
You make me happy
When skies are gray
You'll never know, dear
How much I love you
Please don't take
My sunshine away
Very good class! Thank you for your
participation.
2. Unlocking difficulties
Before we formally start our new lesson for
today, let us first unlock words that we might
surely encounter during our discussion.
I have here a planetary orbit, each orbit consists
of a word. You will pick a word from the orbit and
place to it's correct meaning
Is it clear class?
Yes, teacher!
Sunspot
a.dark patch on the sun a. dark patch on the sun.
Sun
b. a star where planet orbits
b. a star where planet orbits.
c. mass of gas in space

d. flame form at the surface of the e. mass of gas in space.
sun Corona

A. Reviewing previous lesson or presenting the
new lesson
But before we go to our lesson, what is our topic
last meeting? We discussed about the members of the solar
Very good! system
What is a solar system?
It is the sun, planets and all other heavenly bodies
orbiting our sun.
Will you enumerate the members of our solar The members of our solar system are the sun, eight
system? planets, dwarf planets, asteroid. meteor, comets
I think you are now ready to our new lesson for
today.
B. Establishing a purpose for the lesson
Now, we will watch a short video that is related
to our topic today. As I play the video you have to
observe and understand because I have questions
for you later on.
Yes teacher!
Is it clear class?
C. Presenting examples instances of the new
lesson
Okay class, What is the video all about? It's all about the sun, teacher
Very Good!
Now I have a question, do you know the parts of
the sun? Do you know that sun has many parts?
No teacher
Do you think that sun is a star?
Yes teacher
What makes you think that sun is a star?
Because just like star, sun emits light and heat
D. Discussing new concepts and practicing new
skill #1
Let's study this picture:
What can you see in the picture? The layers of the sun, teacher
There are four layers of the earth, can you read it
class?
The photosphere, convection zone, radiation zone
and the core.
The first layer is the photosphere is the surface
and outermost layer of the sun with a
temperature of 6,600oC. This where we can see
sunspots and corona.
Do you understand class? Yes teacher
Very good!
Can you point where is the photosphere here? ( students will point the photosphere)
Next layer of the sun is the convection zone. Will
you read the description of this layer class?
Convection zone is the second outer-most layer of
the sun which energy is transported outward
mainly by convection currents.
The importance of convection zone is responsible
for formation of cloud in the earth and on other
planets in the solar system.
Do you understand class?
Yes teacher
Very good!
Another layer is the radiation zone. Can you read
this class? Radiation zone is the third other-most layer of the
sun that emits radiation which is dangerous to our
Do you know why living things on earth doesn't health.
affect much by the radiation of the sun, class?
Because radiation zone and the photosphere
lessen the effect of radiation by blocking some of No teacher
the radioactive particles that the radiation zone
releases.
The last layer of the sun is the core.
Core is the inner-most and the center part of the
sun. It is mainly compose of molten rocks where
hydrogen is converted to helium to produce
energy in the form of heat and light.
Which is hotter, the core or the photosphere?
Correct children! The core teacher
The e core, because it has a temperature of 15
million degree Celsius, while photosphere has
only 6,600 degree celcius.
Did you understand class?
Very good! Yes teacher!
E. Discussing new concepts and practicing new
concepts #2
I will divide you into two groups and each group
will have a identify the different parts of the sun
using the egg and the apple.
For Group 1, let’s imagine that this egg is the sun.
There will be one representative in your group
who will go in front and show to us the layers of
the sun using an egg.
For Group 2 , another thing that could represent
the sun is an apple. There should also be
someone to go in front and show to us the layers
of the sun using an apple.
Is it clear class?
Yes teacher!
Group 1, you may now present your activity
( students will do the activity)
The eggshell represents the photosphere, the
cloth-like part between the shell egg white is the
Very good! Let's give them 5 claps convection zone, the egg white is the radiation
zone, and the egg yolk is the core.
Group 2, you may now present your activity
The red skin of the apple us the photosphere, the
white portion after the skin is the convection zone,
the round space at the center is the radiation zone
and the seed is the core.
Very good! Let's also give them 5 claps
Thank you class for you participation
F. Developing Mastery (Leads to formative
assessment )
I have here an activity for you and you will label
the picture with the parts of the sun.
1. Core
2. Radiation Zone
3. Convective Zone
4. Photosphere
5. Chromosphere
6. Corona
G. Finding Practical applications of concepts and
skills in daily living
Class, what can you say about the sun? Do you
think sun is important to our life? Yes teacher
Why sun is important to our life? Sun is important because the sun allows us to live
on earth the sun allows us to see everything
around us and the sun give us heat and light. The
sunlight also of the sun is one of the most
important element needed by the plant to grow
because the sun or the plant uses the sun's energy
to produce food.
H. Making Generalization and abstraction about
the lesson
Again class, what is our lesson all about?
Very good! The Sun teacher
Will you enumerate the layers of the sun?
The layers of the sun are photosphere, convection
zone, radiation zone, and the core.
Very good!
Do we consider sun as a star?
Yes teacher
Correct, very good!
I. Evaluating Learning
I. Choose the correct description of the picture
shown if it emits light or heat.
II. Fill the blanks of the statement and choose the
correct answer in the boxes given.
J. Additional Activities for application and
remediation
Assignment
Instruction: Give at least 5 benefits we get from
the sun. Write your answer on ½ crosswise.
V. Remarks
VI. Reflection
A. No. of learners who earned 80% of the
formative assessment.
B. No. of learners who require additional activities
to remediation.
C. Did the remedial lesson work? No. of learners
who have caught up with the lesson
D. No. of learners remediation
E. Which of my teaching strategy worked well?
Why did this work?
F. What difficulties did I encounter which may
principal or supervisor helped me solve?
G. What innovation or localized materials did I
use/discover which I was to share with other
teachers.
