SUMMARY
The San Miguel Corporation
provides livelihood mainly to
the people living in Sual,
Pangasinan. The are doing a
tree-planting project
wherein people can harvest
the benefits in the long run.
Because the Philippines is
the world's second largest
coconut grower and there is an increasing global demand for coconuts, they decided to plant
them. The tree-planting project is called Sual's One Million Trees project where they plant
coconut, coffee and cacao seedlings around different barangays and yards. In terms of cacao
and coffee production, the Philippines also possesses a competitive advantage which helps in
the economy of the Philippines because it has the right soil and climate for growing cacao, an
equatorial crop, as well as all four commercially viable coffee varieties: Arabica, Liberica
(Barako), Excelsa, and Robusta. One of the few nations in the world where all four types may be
cultivated is the Nation.

The beneficiaries not only include those people in Sual but also other people in the
country can participate because this project aims to spark interest in the country. This project
helps in the production of coconut since the Philippines is the second largest producer of
coconuts. On a worldwide scale, cocoa prices have remained consistently high, despite the fact
that coffee is still the world's second most traded commodity. Cocoa and coffee demand vastly
outnumber supply capacity on a local level. Although the Philippines is a coffee-drinking
country, local production accounts for just 20% of the country's coffee supply.

ANALYSIS
The San Miguel Energy Corporation (SMEC) wants to eradicate environmental and
economic issues by implementing activities that promote environmental conservation and
resource sustainability in the industry. This project also lessens the unemployment rate of
people by giving them livelihood and employment and also giving out great opportunities so
they can live better. It is important to eradicate these issues because it can help a lot of people
in the country and also the nation. It contributes to the economic development of the country
because it not only gives environmental benefits to the country but the sprout of the trees can
be sold to countries around the world which can make our country know. It also improves the
employment rate by giving jobs to people to improve their wellbeing.

The benefits that the San Miguel Corporation get from engaging with a CSR project is
that their business will be know not only in our country but also with other countries. It can be
known by other countries because the project of the SMEC helps in the production of coconut,
coffee and cacao. Other than that, this project helps residence gain livelihood of people in its
province as well as give interest to other provinces. They also help the residences by improving
their living situations by providing them with more and better opportunities. Also, the coconut
business in the Philippines employs one-third of the country's population, but there is space for
much more. Another asset is that it delivers electricity to the provinces of Luzon and Visayas, as
well as the country's special economic zones and industrial facilities, with a consistent and
reliable baseload. The San Miguel Corporation becomes profitable by being well known in
various places around the world. It will be like an advertisement that helps out people. Another
reason that it’s profitable is that many employees will stay because they know that the
company’s intention is good and that they will continue to employ those who are unemployed
when another project comes. This is not the only CSR project they are doing that’s why they can
be known quickly. Another is that those people they’ve helped will be possible to give back by
working with the corporation for a long time. Investors will also invest to the corporation
because they produce well as well as they donate a lot to the country’s wellbeing. And with
giving a lot to the country they have tax deduction.

If were to be a part of the SMEC I would suggest that they do donations of money or
goods to support specific causes. One example is that they can provide during typhoons
because a lot of victims will be affected financially and a lot of them won’t be able to work due
to the situation. Another CSR is that they can ask for volunteers from the company to engage in
community sector for specified number of hours so that they can help a lot more people. The
San Miguel Corporation (SMC) already helps people in terms of education, health and nutrition,
environment, and housing and rehabilitation. I suggest that they just continue their projects
and widen the range of those who can be helped.
CONCLUSION

To conclude, San Miguel Corporation provides livelihood to residences and gives help in
the environment by planting a million of trees. It also helps the economic of the Philippines by
producing coconut, coffee and cacao. The project the unemployment rate deducted and as well
as the demand for coconut. Apart from supporting Sual's One Million Trees project, SMEC also
funded the construction of five health centers in the remote villages of Cabalitian, Sioasio East,
Sioasio West, Calombuyan, and Bolaoen in Sual, with the goal of providing long-term health
care to the residents of Cabalitian, Sioasio West, Calombuyan, and Bolaoen. Another is that the
local administration has pledged to continue the tree-planting initiative until all communities
are able to benefit from it. Our locals won’t have a hard time looking for jobs with programs like
these. This CSR helps the reputation of the business to the people of the Philippines because
they can build a communication with those people they’ve helped. I would also like to be a part
of establishing events like this, as well as assisting in the development of new, distinctive,
helpful and original CSR projects for our nation.
