Welcome to Mrs. Sabot’s class! This semester class is designed to introduce you to
basic business concepts. This includes the economic system of the United States, how
businesses operate, business ownership and structure, marketing, management,
leadership, entrepreneurship, and an introduction to careers in business. This class is a
recommended prerequisite for other business classes and prepares you for future
participation in both DECA and FBLA.

MATERIALS:
● Chromebook/Laptop - We will use these in class every single day, so please
make sure you bring it fully charged and ready to go!
● Pencil
● A smile :-)

COURSE GOALS:
● To develop communication skills
● To learn more about yourself and your strengths
● To be able to interpret and analyze information that will enhance your
problem-solving skills
● To be able to transfer business information and skills to real-life situations
● To develop basic work skills for the real world
● To be open to new ideas and the thoughts of others
● To become the best person you can be as you prepare to enter the real world

EVALUATION CRITERIA

Throughout the semester we will complete a variety of assignments. These include


group and independent projects, written assignments, guided notes, presentations,
participation points, etc. Grades will be based on the following scale:

90-100% (of total points ) =A


80-89% =B
70-79% =C
60-69% =D
0-59% =F

PARTICIPATION POINTS

In addition to your assignments/projects, you will receive weekly participation points (up
to 10 points per week). You will earn these points each week by coming to class
on-time, staying on-task, being respectful during instruction/workt time/presentations,
and not using phone/headphones during class (unless permission is given to use them
during independent work time). These participation points are SO IMPORTANT as they
can make or break your overall grade!
