INTRODUCTION

What are code of ethics ?


A code of ethics is a guide of principle designed to
help professional conduct business honestly with
integrity. A code of ethics document may outline
the mission and values of the business or
organization, how professionals are supposed to
approach problems, the ethical principles based on
the organization’s core values, and the standard to
which the professional is held.
Relationship with clients

component of a professional
service. Strong client
relationship results in greater
success. It is required and also
the first step to treat the
client. With some clients it can
be little difficult to interact as
some of them don no want to
answer you because of some
reasons.

CONFIDENTIALITY

� The confidentiality of client information


is a cornerstone of social work and social
service work practice, and it is mentioned
explicitly in the standards of practice,
Principle V, Confidentiality: "College
members respect the privacy of clients by
keeping all information about them in
tight confidence.“

� RSWs respect their client’s right to


privacy when handling personal and
sensitive information. In a private
practice, confidentiality and privacy
rights are your ethical and legal
responsibility and need to be addressed
throughout the treatment cycle.

LIMITATIONS

APPLICATION OF CONFIDENTIALITY
� Not responding to any telephone or email inquiries about
client unless the inquiring person states a unique identifier
for the patient such as a secret code number or word.
� Disclose information about a patient who talks about suicide
or reveals their intent to harm someone.

� Ensuring that sensitive conversations are only held in private
spaces
�  When a client tells you about a change in the symptoms of
their medical condition and you need to share that with their
doctor.
Application of relationship with client
� listening to the concerns of the family and significant others
and acting on those concerns when appropriate and
consistent with the client’s wishes;
� engaging the client in evaluating the care and services that
the client is receiving.
� Ensuring that any approach or activity that could be
perceived as a boundary crossing is included in the care
plan developed by the health care team (for example, a
health care team in a mental health setting may determine
that having coffee with a particular client is an appropriate
strategy that all will consistently use when counselling the
client)
PART WHICH I LIKE TO CHANGE

i. Some client may not want to establish any kind of relationship with the
hospital staff, but they must still be treated with the same kindness and
understanding.
ii. In order to maintain client relationship social worker have to acquire
highly developed communication skills, studying and gaining experience
and expert
iii. An individual has the right to object to their confidential information
being shared. This right should always be respected
iv. It is an organization responsibility to implement confidentiality policies
with any procedures necessary to ensure this confidentiality
CONCLUSION

o A code of ethics sets out an organization's ethical guidelines and best practices to follow
for honesty, integrity, and professionalism. It shows that sustain the career is served
services in the right way and without take any harm to the public or client direct or
indirectly.
o client relationship is a helping relationship that's based on mutual trust and respect, the
nurturing of faith and hope, being sensitive to self and others, and assisting with the
gratification of your patient's physical, emotional, and spiritual needs through your
knowledge and skill.
o Confidentiality is the cornerstone of medical ethics. Confidentiality makes the relationship
safe and establishes trust. The client should feel comfortable disclosing personal
information and asking questions.
