METHODOLOGY/PROCESS:
1. Each participant will be asked to answer the guide questions and write their answers on
the meta cards that will be provided to them.
Guide Questions:
1. What do you expect to gain/learn from the whole-day activity? (Blue meta
cards)
2. What/How can you contribute to ensure the success of the orientation-
workshop? (Yellow meta cards)
2. Children will then be instructed to post their answers on the board/wall.
3. CHR Facilitator will summarize the answers and thereafter present the prepared
program.
At the end of the lecture, participants will be able to form a holistic picture of a child and understand
why a child is a holder of rights.

The participants will be divided into 5-8 smaller groups. Once they are grouped, each of
the participants will have to draw his/her own concept of a Child. Participants will be
given ten (10) minutes to do their individual work and fifteen (15) minutes to share their
output to their group. Thereafter, each group will make a collage by combining all their
individual art works and post it in a designated area.
The CHR resource persons will present an overview of the characteristics of a child, its
legal bases and the factors affecting them. To ensure orderly discussion and facilitate
participants’ learning, it is recommended that the power point (Who is a child?) be
utilized as teaching aid during the plenary discussion.

Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), its background and core principles. Students will also be
able to articulate the different rights of the child and how they are categorized.
METHODOLOGY/PROCESS
Using the power point presentation Rights of a Child, the CHR resource person will
briefly discuss the basic concept of CRC, its six core principles and the categories of the
rights of a child.
Each group will be given a picture of which they have to come up with a short story. In
creating their story the following questions must be considered:
a) What are the rights of a child that is/are shown is this picture?
b) Has the right been violated or granted? If a right has been violated, what could be
done to grant the child her or his right? If a right has been granted, how would the
child’s life been different if it had not?
At the end of the session, participants are expected to become aware of the various child rights
issues currently besetting the Filipino homes, schools and communities.
METHODOLOGY/PROCESS
