MODULE 4: THE RIGHTS OF SPECIAL SECTOR: WOMEN

Module Description: This module shall specifically deal on the rights of women and gender issues.
The prevalence of violence against women and the impact of violence against women on individual
health, family stability, and society as a whole2 demand special attention and protection. Thus, it has
become imperative to address these gruesome realities. Thematic discussions on this module are
the following:

A. Republic Act No. 9710: An Act Providing for the Magna Carta of Women
B. Republic Act No. 9262: Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004
C. GBV Referral System and Mechanism
Module Objectives:
(Note: These are general objectives for the module. Specific objectives, contents, methodology are
set for each thematic/topic discussion in the session guide).
At the end of the module, the participants should be able:
1. To comprehend and appreciate the salient features of Magna of Women, (AR No. 9710);
2. To have a deeper understanding of violence against women and all its forms;
3. To avail of the mechanism, when such incidents happen, in their own locality
