27 CONDITIONS OF PRAYER

1. BEFORE SALAT
a. CLEANLINESS
i. Cleanliness of body
ii. Cleanliness of clothes
iii. Cleanliness of Place of Prayer
b. Facing the Qiblah
c. Time for Prayer

2. INTENTION FOR SALAT

a. TAKBIR
i. The Opening Takbir in tandem with Intention
ii. Takbir said while Standing
iii. No Delay between Opening Takbir and Intention
iv. Opening Takbir must be Audible

b. Intention that one is praying with Imam

c. Intention for the particular obligatory prayer one is performing
d. Intention for the particular wajib prayer one is performing (not a
condition for the voluntary prayers)

3. QIYAM/Standing
a. Standing for Prayer
b. Recitation of Quran
c. Reciting Quran in all rakats (except when following imam)

4. SAJDAH
a. Prostrating on a stable surface
b. Place of sajdah must not be too high
c. Sajdah must include bones of nose and forehead
d. Hands and knees must touch ground
e. Toes must touch the ground
f. Ruku must come before Sajdah
g. Rise from sajdah into position close to sitting

5. Last sitting should be equivalent to recitation of tashahud

6. Salat must be performed while one is conscious
7. Must have full knowledge of procedure of salat
