51 SUNAN OF PRAYER

1. TAKBIR
a. Raising the hands to the shoulders
b. Palms open, fingers apart
c. Saying the opening takbir with imam
d. Saying Takbir while standing
e. Saying Takbir out loud

2. QIYAM
a. Right hand over the left over navel (encircling the wrist with connection of little finger with
thumb)
b. Recitation of the Thana
c. Saying Authzu
d. Bismillah before Fatihah
e. Say “Amin” after Fatihah
f. Imam to say “Sami Allahu Liman Hamidah”
g. For follower to say “Rabbana Lakal Hamd”
h. To recite silently the following:
- Thana
- Authzu
- Bismillah
- Amin
- Tahmid (Rabbana Lakal Hamd)
i. Spreading feet apart (a little), Standing shoulder to shoulder
j. Particular types of Surahs after Fatihah (when a resident)
(a) Fajr and Zuhr – Lengthy surahs (from al-Hujurat to al-Buruj)
(b) Asr and Isha- Medium surahs (from al-Buruj to al-Bayyinah)
(c) Maghrib- Smallest surahs (from al-Bayyinah to An-Nas)
k. Reciting any surah according to other circumstances (ie travelling, child crying etc.)
l. Lengthen the first rakat

3. RUKU
a. Recite Takbir before Ruku and recite the 3 Subhanallahs
b. Making Ruku in Sunnah fashion
i. Hands on knees, finger spread
ii. Legs straight
iii. Back straight

b. Standing after ruku

a. Order of descending into sajdah:


Knees => Hands => Face
