performance/ adapting the demand of the fast-paced changing world .Thus, the school guarantees that
none of them will be left behind. Realizing its vision, varied programs and projects were launched to
address the learners' needs. These highlights the School Based Management System which are reflected
on four principles.
PRINCIPLE 1
Shared governance is a well-known concept at DGAES, where we believe that the school is owned by the
community rather than the school itself.
The success of every school is largely dependent on planning. As a result, the school assumes enormous
responsibility for creating the School Improvement Plan, a three-year roadmap on which schools decide
how and when to achieve their improvement goals. As the school takes the lead in planning,
stakeholders and various school organizations such as SGC, PTA, and SPG work together to identify
priority needs that will be included in the Annual Procurement Plan and Annual Implementation Plan.
Different PPAs were created in response to the school's top priorities. These PPAs were anchored to our
banner project, Project ARENAS.
Developed projects were successfully carried out in accordance with the monitoring and assessment
procedure. Plan adjustments were made in view of the evaluation's results.
Teaching and non-teaching employees have been assessed with improving ratings based on the OPCRF
and IPCRF from 3.801 in 2018 to 4.032 in 2020, indicating the school as an institution with strong
leadership and governance. In fact, one of our instructors was rated as the district's Outstanding
Teacher and placed fifth at the area level in the performance assessment.
PRINCIPLE 2
Curriculum and Instruction is a field within education which seeks to research, develop, and implement
curriculum changes that increase learner achievement in educational settings. The field focuses on how
people learn and the best ways to educate. It is also interested in new trends in teaching and learning
process.
The school guarantees that the curriculum and teaching are well-developed and enhanced by providing
teachers with various trainings and workshops. LAC sessions, capacity building, mentoring, and coaching
were all carried out successfully. DGAES guarantees to give quality education through proficient and
highly proficient teachers who can deliver quality teaching.
Specifically in this time of pandemic, with the sudden shift in the teaching and learning process where
Modular Distance Learning was practiced by all educational institution, teachers were capacitated even
more.
With the teachers’ dedication and commitment, the learners are honed academically and socially. The
performance of the learners was assessed through different assessment tools which revealed an
improving level of performance. This shows that the institution met its mission of developing distinct
learners.
The school also caters inclusive education. In fact, we have special children who were mainstreamed to
regular classes. In addition to, IP learners were given equal learning opportunities, same with other
learners. Furthermore, the institution crafted curriculum framework and developed indigenized lesson
to address the learning needs of IP learners. More so, the school also implemented one of the PPAs
which is the Project REACH (REaring Aeta Children) that aims that all school-aged aeta learners were
enrolled.
Apart from promoting the learner's academic and social well-being, the school ensures their safety in
their learning environment by promoting child-friendly and hazard-free zones.
In terms of reading improvement, the school undertook three projects: Project AKLAT (Ating Kaalaman
Linangin, Alamin, Tuklasin), Project LEARN (Let Everyone Active Readers in New Normal), and the
creative project Pabasa sa Kubo sa Barangay, all of which aimed to foster not only reading abilities but
also reading comprehension.
To achieve excellence in curriculum and instruction, the percentage of instructors who pursued
postgraduate studies increased from 77 percent in 2018 to 92 percent in 2020.
PRINCIPLE 3
One way to effectively provide quality education is through effective accountability and continuous
improvement within the school.
And we are confident that through the collaborative efforts of both external and internal stakeholders,
as well as their strong commitment and dedication in making the school an ideal venue for quality
learning, Dacanlao G. Agoncillo ES has consistently demonstrated responsiveness to the needs of pupils.
The school has effective school organizations, including the school faculty organization, school governing
council, parent-teacher association, supreme pupil government, and other organizations, with which
everyone is aware of and fully understands his function and responsibilities as agreed upon by the
community stakeholders. With this, the actions of the many organizations were concentrated on the
school's aim and achievement, encompassing phases of planning, implementation, monitoring, and
assessment. As a result, stakeholders who have demonstrated their best interests in supporting and
contributing to the school's success have also been acknowledged and given credits.
It's vital to gauge clients and stakeholders’ sentiment using evaluation tools and other instruments for
feedback systems. Up this approach, schools have always used constructive monitoring and positive
feedback to identify gains and accomplishments, address the gaps, and even make plan adjustments
that will clearly lead to greater success.
Numerous accomplishments were attributed in part to the ongoing assistance of stakeholders, allowing
the school to exhibit continuous improvement. Indeed, among these enhancements were newly
constructed buildings initiated by stakeholders, primarily the LGU, which undoubtedly responded to the
demand for additional classrooms due to increased enrolment. As per transparency concerns, the
school's achievements, all of its activities, and how it used management resources were all publicly
posted via transparency boards and/or the school's official Facebook page, demonstrating a clear and
transparent partnership between the school and the community.
Overall, accountable internal and external stakeholders of DGAES have clearly showed an intensified
partnership which resulted huge success of the school.
PRINCIPLE 4
Management of Resources under Principle IV of the School Based Management System is concerned
with the efficient and effective deployment of resources in the most efficient way possible, optimizing
the usage of existing resources to meet an organization's purpose.
Financial resources, facilities, human expertise, equipment, and information technology are example of
those resources.
The school administrator, in collaboration with the community-students, parents, LGU, NGO, private
companies, and individuals-, works to improve and meet the needs of the institution for the benefit of
the students.
Fundraising activities were carried out in 2018 under the supervision of Mr. Jumarc Alix, PTA President,
as part of the School Safety and Learning Space Project. The funds raised were utilized to build the mini-
library, computer, and stockroom. The gate and perimeter fence of the institution were renovated the
same year and functioned as the entrance gate to avoid large number of students on the gate near the
national road.
The next year 2019, another fund-raising activity was held under the leadership of Mr. Edward
Hernandez and the other PTA officers, in which teachers and parents competed. The money gained was
utilized to cover expenditures throughout the event. Excess money was utilized to paint the mini-library,
computer, and stockroom as part of the School Beautification Project.
Due to the COVID 19 outbreak, the teaching and learning process in school abruptly transformed in the
year 2020. The conventional method of educating children in the school was replaced by Modular
Distance Learning, in which the children stayed at home and perform the tasks under the supervision of
their parents.
As a result of the situation, teachers adopted a new method of planning lessons and activities for the
children. During this time, they require a large supply of bond papers, ink, and printers to meet the
needs of the learners. In addition, a two-story, four-classroom structure was built under DPWH, and the
Local Government Unit of Calaca awarded two three-story, nine-classroom buildings to meet the
growing number of learners at DGAES.
For the past three years, DGAES faculty and students have been fortunate for kind-hearted people have
extended their hands to aid the institution in realizing its purpose of delivering quality education for the
benefit of children. The LGU, NGO, private companies, and individuals are constantly assisting the
institution in developing its facilities and ensuring the community's cleanliness and safety.
Aside from such donations, the school's Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses (MOOE), which
vary depending on the number of learners, and the Canteen Fund were used to pay bills and training
of teachers. The expenses are 100% liquidated and reported on assemblies, the state of the school
address, and posted on the transparency board.
Keeping in mind the thoughts of Mike Paul, "Trust, honesty, humility, transparency, and responsibility
are the building blocks of a positive reputation. Trust is the foundation of any relationship", the
administration always keeps communication open with the school community and other stakeholders.
