David Garrette Biography

David Garrett was born on the 4th of September of 1980 in Germany.


David Garrett started playing violin with 4 years old, when his father
offered his brother a violin. A year later, he won the 1st place in a
competition.
With 7 years old, he studied violin at the Lübeck Conservatory and when
he was 9 he debuted at the Kissinger Sommer Festival. With 12 years old,
Garrett began working with the distinguished Polish violinist Ida Handel
and most of the times he went to work with her, he had to travel to
London and other countries.
With 17 years old, after going out of home, he studied at the Royal
College of Music in London, but only for a semester because he was
later “expelled”.
In 1999 he moved to New York to study at the Juilliard School and in
2003 he won the School's Composition Competition with a fugue
composed in the style of Johann Sebastian Bach. While at Juilliard,
Garrett studied with Itzhak Perlman, and graduated in 2004.
Career

Garrett received his first Stradivarius violin


with 11 years, courtesy of German President
Richard Von Weizsäcke. With 13 years,
Garrett recorded two CDs, that appeared on
German and Dutch television and gave a
concert in the residence of the President of
Germany, Villa Hammerschmidt.
He was offered the famous "San Lorenzo"
Stradivarius, which is among the finest
instruments of Antonio Stradivari's "golden
age". However, in 2008, after a performance,
he tripped and felt into the San Lorenzo,
severely damaging it.
With 13 years, as the youngest soloist of all
time, Garrett signed an exclusive contract
with Deutsche Grammophon.
In April 1997, with only 16 years, he played with the Munich
Philharmonic Orchestra in Delhi and Mumbai in concerts
marking the 50th anniversary of India's Independence, under
the direction Zubin Mehta.
Two years later, he played with the Radio Symphony Orchestra
of Berlin, under the direction of Rafael Frühbeck of Burgos, and
was critically acclaimed. This lead to an invitation to perform at
Expo 2000 in Hannover. With 21 years, he was invited to
perform on the BBC Proms.
While studying at Juilliard, Garrett worked as a model to pay the school.
Garrett's 2008 album Encore aims to spark young people's interest in
classical music, the album contains songs he wrote and arrangements of
pieces and melodies that have accompanied him in his life until now.
Along with his band, consisting of keyboard, guitar and drums, he gives
concerts that include classical sonatas (accompanied by grand piano),
arrangements and compositions, as well as rock songs and movie themes
In autumn of 2007, Garrett was chosen by the company Montegrappa
(whose items are distributed by Montblanc worldwide) as an
ambassador for the launch of the new pens from the Tribut to Antonio
Stradivari collection. The event took place in various locations around
the world, including Rome, New York, Hong Kong, Berlin and London.
For these occasions, Garrett received a Stradivarius from the Gli Archi
di Palazzo Comunale collection.

On the 5th of Decembre of 2011, he appeared on Real Performance


Variety, performing their cover of Nirvana "Smells Like Teen Spirit". He
was a judge at the 9th annual Independent Music Awards to support
the careers of independent musicians.
On the 19th of May of 2012, he appeared in the final of the UEFA
Champions League performing with German singer Jonas Kaufmann
and announced a new Crossover Tour in 2014.
In 2013 he played the lead role in the film
The Devil's Fiddler as the noted 19th century
violinist Niccolò Paganini and in the same
year he released his album Garrett vs
Paganini.
His 2015 album Explosive includes original
compositions like: Innovation, Furious,
Explosive, Unlimited Symphony, Serenity,
Baroque fantasy and Melancholia.
On the 18th of August of 2017, he released the
single "Bittersweet Symphony" as a teaser for his
album Rock Revolution, released on September
17, 2017.
On the 11th of October of 2020, Garrett sang
the German national anthem at the 2020 Eifel
Formula 1 Grand Prix as part of the opening
ceremonies, and in October 9 he released
another studio album called Alive: My
Soundtrack.

Conclusion
This work talks about David Garrett. He is a young and famous violinist
that we like a lot.
Has we can see from his biography and career he started to play very
young and started to be very good very young!
His journey trougth the years show us his pastion for his instrument, not
only playing classical peaces but also dealighting everyone whit rock an
pop musics.
Today with 41 years old we has edited 23 albums.
He has a rich and beautiful life doing what he loves and that is
showend in his performences.
