ANSWER:

1. The statement tells that due to complexity of today’s world, learning management theory
is like chasing a wild goose. Management theories face limitations, because models of
human behavior do not consider all the variables that can impact relevant success and
productivity. Different businesses face different issues with employees, financial
resources and the use of technology. It is sensible to propound that studying
management theory is only a real waste of time if a person or a manager fail to apply
these concepts to the real-world situations.

Also, the oddity of the human conditions mean that even optimal management systems
may be more effective at some times than others, and people change over time and from
time to time in ways that defy the most enlightened management approaches.

2. The concept of change can be unsettling. Many of us would prefer to shy away from
changes no matter what, whether they are big or small. However, change is an integral
part of our personal development journey and for the most part should be embraced.

In my case, I was hired as a PE instructor at the College of the Immaculate Conception

right after my graduation in 2006 but due to personal reason I decided to work abroad
in 2008 with uncertainty. For the past 12 years, I worked in different companies and
engaged in corporate world which is very different to what I’m used to do in the
academe.
Now that I have returned to the Philippines, I am so lucky and privilege to have another
chance and accepted to be one of the Instructors in the NEUST-MGT. The challenge now
is how I am going to use theories in my teaching.

While listening to the report of Ma’am Mary Ann, under the theory of Drucker
suggesting that the objectives must be realistic, achievable and measurable or it will
become a waste of everything. One of the principles she mentioned that I wanted to use
as my technique and method of teaching will be the motivating and communicating. A
personal approach that will help me to individualize my instruction that focuses on the
needs of each individual student. Teaching style in specific student that will target the
need at a given time and phase.

Change can be scary but what is scarier is that we allow fear to stop us from growing,
evolving and progressing. Change touches all aspects of life, but embracing change in
once career, can contribute enormously towards positive personal development.

3. According to the report of Ma’am Sherryl, Educational administrators oversee the day-to-
day functions of schools at every level, and they provide leadership in times of crisis and
lay out optimistic visions for the future of educational institutions. Having said that, It is
clear that this pandemic has utterly disrupted the education system that many assert
was already losing its relevance but with the help of the administrators I believe that the
unplanned and rapid move to online learning – with limited training, insufficient and
expensive internet connection, and short-term preparation will result a positive user
experience that is conducive to sustain growth and a timely system of education will
emerge. Also, by doing the day-to-day operations I believe that the integration of
information technology in education will further accelerate, and that online education
will eventually become an integral component of school education.
4. Teachers take on multiple and diverse roles in the classroom, sometimes during a single
lesson. The kind of role that is appropriate for the situation that arises in the classroom.
Personal qualities of teachers play an important role in leadership. And these attributes
and traits are what make up their personality. Personal qualities are what make a
person unique, and it allows them to navigate a new situation, make new friends and
connections, or work through conflict or tensions.

In my opinion, some of the personal qualities of teachers that adds up to leadership are
listening and being a good listener. Listening and being a good listener is an important
characteristic of a teacher because a teacher will only be able to support and encourage
their students to advance and grow if they have a strong understanding of who they are
and where they are in their academic journey. As a teacher, it is important to listen for
what students are interested in so the teacher can tailor lessons to their interest areas,
how they describe any challenges or obstacles so the teacher can be supportive, and
how they interact with other students and in the classroom.

Listening is a personal quality that is essential to leadership to understand one’s

students and thus supporting them along in their academic journey.

5. One particular scenario I can share about is self-management and it was during my first
work abroad as an Assistant Administration Manager in a Japanese construction firm. A
young and newly hired employee suddenly became one of the managements. Many
senior colleagues especially Arabs questioned my appointment but I am proud to say
that during that time I was able to control my impulsive feelings and behavior to answer
back the scrutiny and of course with the support of the owner and other managers. I
managed my emotions in healthy ways and adapt to the changing circumstances.

As we may know, it’s not the smartest people who are the most successful or the most
fulfilled in life. You probably know people who are academically brilliant and yet are
socially inept and unsuccessful at work or in their personal relationships. Intellectual
ability isn’t enough on its own to achieve success in life.
