TITLE
Handling of Production Material for Printing,
Lamination and Slitting

1.0 PURPOSE:

• The purpose of this procedure is to ensure the proper handling of production material
during the printing, lamination, and slitting process to ensure consistent quality output
and minimize the risk of product defects.
2.0 SCOPE:

• It is applicable in printing, lamination, and slitting area at Zenith Packages industries


(Pvt) Ltd.
3.0 PROCEDURE:

• Procedure for Handling of Production Material for Printing, Lamination and Slitting
includes the following

1. Receiving and Inspection of Raw Material:

• Upon receiving the raw materials, the store personnel will conduct a visual inspection of
the material to ensure it is in good condition and free from damage.
• Store in charge will prepares the analysis request form and forwards to the QC
department for analysis.
• QC Check the quantity and quality of the material against the analysis request and
report immediately if any discrepancies.

2. Issuance of Raw Material:

• Issuance of raw material will be done based on the job card, which contains the details
of the quantity and type of material required for a particular job.
• The store in-charge will issue the material to the production department based on the job
card and QC ensure that the correct material is issued for each job.

3. Handling of Raw Material:

• The production personnel handling the raw material should wear appropriate personal
protective equipment (PPE) like gloves and masks to prevent contamination.
• The material should be handled with care and kept away from moisture and direct
sunlight.
• The material should be stored in designated areas to avoid confusion and mix up of
material.

• The printing In charge should verify that the OPA reels used for printing size & quantity
as per job requirement.
• The QC personnel should conduct regular checks on the printed material to ensure that
it meets the required print quality and consistency standards.
• They should also verify that the ink used is of the desired viscosity and color

5. Lamination Process:

• The QC personnel should verify that the OPA reels received from printing department,
and aluminum foil and PVC received from the store meet the required quality standards
before they are used in the lamination process.
• The lamination In charge should verify that the solvent-based glue is made as per the
job requirement and QC personnel should verify that meets the required quality
standards before it is used in the lamination process.

6. Curing Process for Laminated Material:

• The Plant manager should verify that the material is cured for the required duration
before the second layer lamination is done.
• The Production Supervisor should verify that the reels are shuffled every day
• The QC manager should verify that the material is tested for peeling, bursting strength,
and tensile strength as per the QC test standards.
• Based on the QC test results, they should ensure that the material is either accepted or
rejected for further processing

7. Slitting Process:

• The Production Supervisor and QC personnel should ensure that the material is cut as
per the customer demand and that the finished product meets the required quality
standards before it is packed and stored..
• The slit material should be checked for accuracy of cut and width at regular intervals to
ensure that it meets the required standards.

8. Packaging and Storage of Finished Goods:

• The finished goods should be packed as per the customer’s requirement and labeled with
the necessary details like product name, batch number, and date of manufacture.
• The finished goods should be stored in designated areas based on their type and kept
away from moisture and direct sunlight.

9. Record Keeping:

• All material handling and production-related activities should be recorded in the


production logbook for future reference and traceability.

10. Emergency Handling:

• In case of any emergency like fire or equipment breakdown, the production personnel
should follow the emergency handling procedures and report to the designated personnel
immediately.
