External gear pump -> High pressure capability

-> small, compact size

Uses two fluid flow. One

meshing years
to create
gear is corrected to
drive shaftpouted by is driven by first gen
prime a mover, another
gear
As the
genes rotates,
fluild is drawn in from the reservoir due to reduced
pressure.
When years come together, the third is pushed out through the outlet port with a
positive
seal to prevent leaks. The allows continuous flow of said.

Q 3 b)
Explain the operating procedure of the electrical control system.

1. When the Switch 1 (SW1) is closed, solenoid A will be energized, causing cylinder 1 to
extend.
2. When the cylinder 1 extends, it will be in contact with the limit switch 1 (1-LS), actuating
the 1-LS in the circuit to close.
3. When 1-LS is actuated by the piston rod cam to be closed, this will close the upper circuit
and energize the coil of contact relay 1 (1-CR), which close and open both sets of
contacts of 1-CR
4. Thus, the upper normally closed 1-CR set of contacts will be open, opening the upper
circuit and de-energizing solenoid A which will cause the cylinder 1 to retract.
5. While the lower normally open 1-CR set of contacts will be closed, it will serve to keep
coil 1-CR to be energized even though the LS-1 is open in the lower circuit due to
cylinder 1 retracting.
6. Besides energizing the coil 1-CR, solenoid B will be energized at the same time in the
lower circuit, this allows cylinder 2 to extend while cylinder 1 retract.
7. When the cylinder 2 extends, it will be in contact with the limit switch 2 (2-LS), actuating
the 2-LS to be opened in the circuit.
8. When 2-LS is actuated by the piston rod cam to be opened, this will open the lower
circuit and de-energizing the coil 1-CR and solenoid B, causing cylinder 2 to be
retracting.
9. When the coil 1-CR is de-energized, the upper normally closed 1-CR set of contacts will
be closed, closing the upper circuit and energizing solenoid A again if the SW1 is still
closed.
10. The cycle from step 1 to step 9 will repeat itself until the SW1 is opened.
