500 INSTALLS IN TELECOMS 2
Ryse Energy is the global leader in hybrid renewables in the telecoms space
Ryse Energy have delivered 11 off-grid projects for MTN throughout South Africa
MTN required a renewable solution as their sites are in areas of energy deprivation with no grid
electrical connection, meaning there were previously supplied only by inefficient, expensive and
polluting diesel fuel generators.
These projects were all hybrid solutions, comprised of our E-5 HAWT, 185 W solar PV panels
(typically 10 panels per system) and battery storage which enabled MTN to reduce its use of diesel
and its OPEX costs using a green and sustainable method.
Sector Telecommunications
The responsibility for the optimal operation of the facility in Ejulve, which rents to Vodafone,
Orange and Movistar among others was given to Ryse Energy to supply reliable, renewable
power.
6 kWp of photovoltaic energy and a Ryse Energy E-5 wind turbine are responsible for providing
more than 50 kWh/day on average to the facility.
Additionally, the site parameters are fully monitored, with remote access being able to control
each of element. Components for installation were pre-assembled at the factory and shipped as a
unit for quick and simple installation and start-up.

Type Off-Grid
Vodafone required different renewable solutions for their sites depending on if they were on-grid
or off-grid. These projects are all hybrid solutions, comprised of either our E-3 or E-5 HAWT,
185 Wp solar PV panels (typically 10 panels per system) and a battery storage system.
These energy sources compliment the energy generated from one another and reduce the
reliance on the battery system, extending its lifespan. The batteries act as an energy buffer and
allows energy to be delivered consistently throughout the day/night.

These installations are helping Chile, and Latin America, to achieve their ambitious target of
generating 70% of their energy from renewables by 2030- double of what the EU has pledged.
These projects have been delivered for Telefonica’s bad-grid telecoms towers, which have a grid
connection but the energy supply is very intermittent. Every installation is a hybrid solution, 68
sites consisting of our E-5 and 2 with our E-3 machines, as well as solar PV and battery storage.

Type Bad-Grid
The installation is made up of Ryse Energy’s E-5 wind turbine in combination with 32 solar panels
of 230 Wp, 2,000 Ah battery storage and a 5,000 W inverter.
With this type of installation, there will be an energy supply of 24 hours a day for 365 days a
year. Since at night solar energy is not available, the wind provides the energy needed to charge
the batteries. This allows them to discharge in less depth, increasing the useful life cycles of the
system.
Sector Telecommunications
Location Spain
Type Off-Grid
Telefónica Argentina opted for Ryse Energy wind turbines because the average winds in the area
are extremely strong and our wind turbines meet all the requirements and certificates which
guarantee they will withstand these winds and continue to operate correctly at such high wind
speeds.
This location is the only link between Los Antiguos and Perito Moreno, being an important point
for Telefónica, which plans to install a cell tower for the area. This requires the installation to be
equipped with the latest technology which guarantees 24 hour, 365 day operation.

This 100% renewable single-phase installation is comprised of a E-5 HAWT, 36 solar panels of
230 Wp, 3,000 Ah battery storage and a 6, 000 W Inverter.
With this type of installation, there will be an energy supply of 24 hours a day for 365 days a
year. Since at night solar energy is not available, the wind provides the energy needed to charge
the batteries. This allows them to discharge in less depth, increasing the useful life cycles of the
system.
Additionally, this type of installation can be pre-assembled in shipping containers at the factory
and transported to the destination for quick deployment and commissioning.

CRITICAL INFRASTRUCTURE 2
The Suez Canal Authority required reliable energy to cover the critical loads at East Alfrdan
Command & Control Radar Monitoring Station. The Station, situated on an island within the Suez
Canal which is one of the most important global passageways, is critical to ensuring security
within the Canal.
Ryse Energy provided a hybrid renewable energy system comprised of a Ryse Energy E-5 wind
turbine, 4.95 kWp rooftop solar PV system with 15 solar modules of 330 Wp rated power, as
well as 18 kWh of Li-ion batteries with full monitoring system.
The system was sized and optimized to ensure that wind-solar hybrid renewable energy was the
primary source of electricity for the Station, and within the first three months, the back-up power
source was only engage three times, showcasing the resilience of the renewable system.
