SYSTEM DESIGN OPERATION OVERVIEW

Ryse Energy renewable energy system with an “on-telecom-tower wind turbine (battery
connected configuration), a solar PV system, battery storage and an alternative fuel generator

▪ The AC power generated by the Wind Turbine (1) goes into the Wind Charger
(2) to be transformed into rated DC power to charge the Batteries (3) and the
4
Telecom Tower (7), via the Off-Grid Invertor (8), simultaneously.
1
▪ The DC power generated by the Solar PV Panels (4) goes to the Solar MPPT
7 (5) and then charges the Batteries (3) and the Telecom Tower (7), via the Off-
Grid Invertor (8), simultaneously.
5

9
▪ The entire hybrid renewable energy system has a Monitoring Device (6) which
2
will enable remote monitoring via an internet connection.
▪ If there are no renewable sources available, the energy stored in the Batteries
(3) is used to power the load of the Telecom Tower (7), transformed into AC
utilizable power via the Off-Grid Invertor (8).
8
10 ▪ Once the Batteries (3) are fully charged, and the solar PV panels and/or the
wind turbine are overproducing, the Wind Charger (2) will send the energy
6 directly to the Dump Load (9). A signal will then be sent to the Auto-Safety
Break (10) to stop the wind turbine and the Solar PV System (4) will pass into
3
an “open circuit” mode activated by the Solar MPPT.
11 ▪ If there are no renewable energy sources available and the batteries are
discharged, the Micro Turbine Generator (11) will act as back-up power
feeding the load and charging the batteries simultaneously, via the Off-Grid
Invertor (8).

TELECOM CASE STUDIES

ON/OFF - GRID CASE STUDY 24

DECARBONIZING TELECOMMUNICATION TOWERS

FOR VODAFONE
Ryse Energy have successfully delivered renewable energy for Vodafone at their
telecommunication tower sites.

Ryse Energy have delivered 43 projects for Vodafone throughout Spain. Vodafone required
different renewable solutions for their towers depending on if they were on-grid or off-grid.
These projects are all hybrid solutions, comprised of either our E-3 (3 kW) or E-5 (5 kW)
horizontal axis wind turbine, 185 W solar PV panels (typically 10 panels per system), a solar
inverter and a battery storage system.

These energy sources compliment the energy generated from one another and reduce the
reliance on the battery system. The batteries act as an energy buffer and allows energy to be
delivered consistently throughout the day.

IMPACT OF PROJECT

GENERATING CLEAN, RENEWABLE ENERGY FOR

MTN IN SOUTH AFRICA
South Africa have pledged to have 26% of total energy from renewables by 2030.
Currently, renewables only contribute to 7.6% of energy.

Ryse Energy have delivered 11 off-grid projects for MTN throughout South Africa. MTN
required a renewable solution as their towers are in an area of energy deprivation with no grid.
These projects were all hybrid solutions, comprised of our E-5 (5 kW) horizontal axis wind
turbine, 185 W solar PV panels (typically 10 panels per system), a solar inverter and battery
storage.

These hybrid sources compliment the energy generated from each other and reduce the
reliance on the battery system. The battery storage acts as an energy buffer and allows energy
to be delivered consistently throughout the day.

IMPACT OF PROJECT

PROVIDING NETWORK SERVICE ACCESS TO CHILE

WITH TELEFONICA
Latin America has set a target of 70% renewable energy by 2030. The telecoms
industry can contribute very positively to this goal.

Ryse Energy have 70 installations in Chile for the global telecom's provider – Telefonica. These
installations are helping Chile, and Latin America, to achieve their ambitious target of generating
70% of their energy from renewables by 2030- double of what the EU has pledged.

These projects have been delivered for Telefonica’s on-grid telecoms towers, where the energy
supply is very intermittent. Every installation is a hybrid solution, 68 with our E-5 (5 kW) and 2
with our E-3 (3 kW) machines.

IMPACT OF PROJECT

REVOLUTIONIZING THE TELECOM INDUSTRY IN

ARGENTINA
Ryse Energy have successfully installed hybrid renewable systems for remote
telecoms in Argentina for Sistemas Energeticos.

Ryse Energy have 14 hybrid installations for telecoms provider Sistemas Energeticos. Located in
La Gauchita, Argentina, Ryse now plans to expand this initiative across the entire country and
widely across Latin America. Argentina has been identified as a target market for Ryse Energy
due to their ambitious sustainable energy goals and the strong renewable resources.

These hybrid renewable energy installations are able to utilise the clean, natural energy available
and reduce reliance on diesel generation for these remote, off-grid towers.

IMPACT OF PROJECT

280,000 198 tons of Equivalent of Estimated

kWh of energy CO2 displaced / 19,447 L of $61,880 USD
produced / year year saved diesel off-set each

PROVIDING ENERGY SUSTAINABILITY FOR THE

GOVERNMENT OF ARAGON, SPAIN
Ryse Energy have further expanded our telecoms profile by delivering several
projects for the Aragon Government

Ryse Energy have helped the Aragonese Government work towards their energy targets whilst
supplying residents and businesses with reliable network services. Our bespoke renewable
hybrid solutions have been installed across the Aragonese region, particularly in the Huesca and
Zaragoza provinces.

Our solutions provide consistent green energy to power the telecommunication towers. In these
rural regions, signals are often weak or inconsistent due to bad-grids or reliance on diesel fuel
for energy.

IMPACT OF PROJECT

400,000 283 tons of Equivalent of Estimated

kWh of energy CO2 displaced / 27,782 L of $88,400 USD

HELPING REDUCE DEPENDANCY ON DIESEL

ENERGY IN ALICANTE
Telecom Levante employed Ryse Energy to install a small renewable solution for a
telecoms tower in Font Rotja

Ryse Energy enhanced the energy consistency in Alicante, which was becoming a problem for
the surrounding inhabitants who were experiencing poor signal strength frequently.

This is an example o a bad-grid system that has been switched to a renewable system to allow
better quality network services for the area. This same model can be applied for the entire
region where network intermittency issues persist throughout.

IMPACT OF PROJECT

106,125 75 tons of CO2 Equivalent of Estimated

kWh of energy displaced / year 7,375 L of $23,454 USD

ELIMINATING BAD-GRID SYSTEMS IN VALENCIA

Valencia, Spain is revolutionizing the telecoms industry with their first
installations of renewable energy powered telecom towers

Ryse Energy have delivered 13 projects for Winercon in Valencia to generate clean energy
from the natural resources available. All of these projects have been installed to help the weak
on-grid network, which is susceptible to outages and power-cuts.

Utilising our Ryse renewable energy solution has allowed a more reliable flow of electricity to
the telecommunication towers, delivering a stronger and more reliable network service.

Ryse Energy plans to continue adding renewable telecom sites in Valencia through our
partnership with Winercon.

IMPACT OF PROJECT

260,000 184 tons of Equivalent of Estimated

kWh of energy CO2 displaced / 18,058 L of $58,000 USD
