ETHICAL CONSIDERATIONS IN TRANSCULTURAL NURSING.

One of the foundations of good nursing care is effective communication.

Verbal and nonverbal communication are both honest forms of nurse-patient
communication. Effective nurse-patient communication can improve care quality and
clinical outcomes while also fostering a positive relationship with patients. On the
other hand,it is the most difficult challenge for nurses, and it necessitates far more
than experience and skills.
Putting patients first requires a mental shift. Nurses must begin their
conversation by introducing themselves always and telling them what needs to be
done thoroughly. Smile and speak in a calm, welcoming tone. When patients require
comfort, give it to them. Always treat each patient with respect. Understanding who
the patients are as individuals will allow the nurse to connect with them and make
them feel more at ease while receiving treatment and care. These methods can
make patients feel truly cared for while also improving relationships.
Active listening is an important part of communication because it requires the
nurse to pay attention. It entails paying attention to what patients have to say and
allowing them to finish their sentences without interruption or judgment. Active
listening also includes paraphrasing or echoing back to the patients what they've just
said and maintaining eye contact. Finally, look for nonverbal cues like the patient's
facial expression, gestures, and eye contact. These abilities can help patients feel
more satisfied and build trust over time.
It takes a long time to communicate with patients. Effective communication
between nurses and patients requires honesty and frankness. Nurses must have a
sincere desire to understand their patients' concerns and to treat them with kindness
and courtesy in order to achieve effective nurse-patient communication. Recognize
the patients' feelings and acknowledge their attitudes. Ask open-ended questions,
speak slowly, and use non-medical language whenever possible. If the patient is
having trouble understanding the information, you should clarify or modify it until the
patient understands it.
Lastly, smile and speak in a calm, welcoming tone. When patients require
comfort, give it to them. Always treat your patients with respect. Understanding who
the patients are as individuals will allow the nurse to connect with them and make
them feel more at ease while receiving treatment and care.
