Mode) is to front axle and automatically detects need to add more power to rear
axle.
Braking/Traction: Standard electronic braking control. Normal electronic slip
control.
Activate: Turn main dial to desired position as indicated by light.

SNOW ON/OFF 4WD HI / For use in inclement weather. Tuned for minimum oversteer and
Road LOW maximum traction.
Drivetrain: Full-time 4WD. Target 4WD ratio of 60% front / 40% rear. May
use 2nd gear for launches to minimize wheel slippage.
Braking/Traction: Slick-surface electronic braking control and electronic slip
control.
Activate: Turn main dial to desired position as indicated by light.

SPORT ON/OFF 4WD HI For enhanced and aggressive driving maneuvers.
Drivetrain: Torque bias for improved cornering. Target 4WD ratio of 40% front / 60% rear.
Road Only Braking/Traction: Standard electronic braking control. Electronic slip control is limited and slip threshold
is raised.
Activate: Ensure 4WD Hi is activated and turn main dial to desired position as indicated by light.
SAND / OFF 4WD HI / For enhanced traction in sandy / muddy off road conditions. Tuned for maximum traction and
MUD Road LOW additional wheel slip.
Drivetrain: Full-time 4WD that allows for a 4WD ratio of “up to” 100% to rear axle.
Braking/Traction: Off-road electronic braking control and electronic slip control.
Activate: Turn main dial to desired position as indicated by light.
ROCK OFF 4WD For use on extreme rocky / hilly terrain with obstacles. Enables use of separate Hill Descent
Road LOW Control and Selec-Speed Control modes as described below.
Drivetrain: 4WD LOW ONLY. REAR. (diff lock) capability is available. Each off-road terrain mode, as
Only described below, adapts to driving conditions for modified torque to rear axle and control of throttle.
Braking/Traction: Off-road electronic braking control and electronic slip control. May be auto controlled
by off-road terrain mode(s) as described below.
Activate: Engage 4WD LOW as described below and turn main dial to desired position as indicated by light.

4WD OFF – ONLY for use on loose, slippery, and/or hilly road surfaces where additional traction is
LOW Road required. Engine speed is 3X normal and wheels rotate at same speed. Vehicle speed not to
exceed 25 mph (40 km/h). Not for use in SPORT mode.
Activate, HI to LOW:
1. With ign. sw. ON and engine running, ensure vehicle speed is 0 to 3 mph (0 to 5 km/h).
2. Shift transmission to NEUTRAL.
3. Press 4WD LOW button once. 4WD LOW Indicator light in instrument cluster will flash and remain
solid when shift is complete.
Deactivate, LOW to HI:
1. If REAR. (diff lock) is activated as indicated on instrument cluster (or switch), disengage rear
axle Diff Lock as described below.
2. With ign. sw. ON and engine running, ensure vehicle speed is 0 to 3 mph (0 to 5 km/h).
3. Shift transmission to NEUTRAL.
4. Press 4WD LOW button once. 4WD LOW Indicator light in instrument cluster will flash and will go
out when shift is complete.
Notes:
 If shift conditions are not met, a message with instructions will be displayed on Electronic Vehicle
Info Center (EVIC)/Driver Info Display (DID).
REAR OFF 4WD Mechanical Rear Axle E-Locker ONLY for use on loose, slippery, and/or hilly road surfaces
Road LOW where additional traction in 4WD LOW is required.
Activate:
(Diff Lock) Only 1. Place vehicle in 4WD LOW as described above.
2. Ensure vehicle speed is below 15 mph (24 km/h) and press REAR. (diff lock) button once.
Indicator on switch and Diff Lock Indicator light in instrument cluster will flash and remain solid
when shift is complete.
Deactivate:
1. Ensure ign. sw. in ON or engine running and Diff Lock Indicator light in instrument cluster is lit
indicating that Diff Lock is engaged.
2. Ensure vehicle speed is below 15 mph (24 km/h) and press REAR. (diff lock) button once.
Indicator on switch and Diff Lock Indicator light in instrument cluster will flash and go out when

REAR OFF 4WD shift is complete.
Notes:
Road LOW  It may be necessary to drive slowly back and forth to complete engagement and disengagement of
(Diff Lock) Only Diff Lock.
Continued  It is possible to shift into or out of Diff Lock with vehicle stationary, however difficulty may occur due to
mating clutch teeth not aligning properly. Several attempts may be required. Preferred method is with
vehicle rolling below 15 mph (24 km/h) while steering left/right to assist in aligning clutch teeth.
OFF 4WD For use ONLY in ROCK and 4WD LOW modes and provides steep downhill off-road speed
Road LOW control on large rocks, deep ruts, etc. without having to control brake (i.e. maintains vehicle
speed while descending and foot can remain off brake).
Only Activate:
(Hill 1. Ensure both ROCK and 4WD LOW modes are activated as described above. Optionally REAR.
Descent (diff lock) can also be used.
Control) 2. With ign. sw. ON and engine running, ensure vehicle is stationary.
3. Press (Hill Descent Control) button once. Use throttle as necessary and vehicle will
automatically brake going downhill to maintain safe speed.
Deactivate:
1. With ign. sw. ON and engine running, ensure vehicle is stationary.
2. Press (Hill Descent Control) button once. Indicator should go out.
Notes:
 No need to apply brake during this mode.
 Can be overridden w/ throttle or brake at any time.
OFF 4WD For use ONLY in ROCK and 4WD LOW modes and provides speed (cruise) control on level
Road LOW ground, uphill, and/or downhill off-road terrain w/o actively controlling throttle or brake (i.e.
foot can remain off both brake and throttle and only need to focus on steering wheel while
Only navigating difficult terrain). 1-2 mph max. at first and paddle transmission shifter can be used
(Selec- to increase/decrease speed. Includes both Hill Descent and Ascent Control.
Speed) Activate:
1. Ensure both ROCK and 4WD LOW modes are activated as described above. Optionally REAR.
(diff lock) can also be used.
2. With ign. sw. ON and engine running, ensure vehicle is stationary.
3. Press (Selec-Speed) button once. Vehicle should start crawling and will automatically maintain
throttle and brake as necessary.
4. Use paddle transmission shifter to increase/decrease speed as desired. Again, vehicle will
automatically maintain throttle and brake as necessary.
Deactivate:
1. With ign. sw. ON and engine running, ensure vehicle is stationary.
2. Press (Selec-Speed) button once. Indicator should go out.
Notes:
 No need to apply throttle or brake during this mode.
 Can be overridden w/ throttle or brake at any time.
