ACTIVITY 2: MONETARY BILLS

To further strengthen security features and increase durability, the Bangko Sentral
ng Pilipinas stated in 2009 that it has begun a significant makeov er of the country's
existing banknotes and coins w hich features the faces of famous Filipino figures. These
new banknotes, which are 80% cotton and 20% locally made abaca, also include more
v ibrant colors, better security features, and a design that highlights w orld heritage
locations and natural marv els in the Philippines including the Banaw e Rice Terraces, the
Chocolate Hills, and the Tubbataha Reef.

Additionally, coins w ill hav e images of Philippine national emblems. Besides the
bright reflection of not just the Filipino people and the natural riches they are adorned
w ith, the ev er-evolving Philippine Peso has also come to symbolize the nation's arduous
path through colonization and freedom.
