Welcome on board!

M.V. MOL PROFICIENCY is 6326 TEU FULL CONTAINER CARRIER, under MARSHAL ISLANDs. flag.
Vessel is managed by MOLSHIP Singapore.

Ship was built at KOYO Dockyard Co. Ltd, delivered on 04th Sept 2007.

In 2014 vessel was retrofitted with 3 nos. additional generators purely to increase the reefer cont. capacity
from 500 to 1284. These generators are fitted in No.8 Cargo hold.

Change of Vessel Management from BSM to MOLSHIP(SIN) on 19TH April 2021.

Class NK is the classification Society. The vessel is under ISM code; All the SMS implementation has been
completed, & documents and Manuals in place as per requirement. PMS on Shipnet1 to be implemented.

Ship’s particular: Please refer to the “Ship’s particulars”.

Inspections/Audits:
- Flag state inspection has been completed in Durban on 20-May-2023 with 2 deficiency and 1
observation.
- Internal audit on 10th Oct-2022-.
- Last AMSA inspection carried out at Melbourne on 6th Feb 2022 and NIL deficiency noted.
- Last PSC inspection was carried out in Cape town on 29-03-23 with NIL OBS and NIL deficiencies.
- Last PSC inspection under Paris MoU carried out at Rotterdam on 21th July’22 and 8 deficiencies
noted and closed.

Owner and Commercial aspects of the Vessel: Operated by ONE and presently on SRX Rainbow Express
service (South Africa ~ Europe).

- The present voyage commenced at COEGA and the number is 233N.
- For further information refer to ONE SRX Port rotation diagram. Currently from last voyage Tanger
Med (MAPTM) has been added before Rotterdam. Port Stay around 8-12 hrs. mostly it’s a trans-
shipment port

Ballast Tanks & Ballasting/ De-ballasting: Ballast console is in the ship’s office on “Upper deck”. All
hydraulic operated ballast and bilge valves can be operated from the ballast console.

Anti-Heel system:
No 4WBT (P) & (S) and No 6WBT (P) & (S) are auto-heel tanks. Auto heel system is in operation after BWTS
installation in Dry Docks. Heeling pump is used for ballast operation.

Holds/Hatch covers: Vessel has eight cargo holds. Seven forward and one aft of accommodation block.
Bays 01, 03, 05, 11 and 13 are dedicated for 20’ containers loading. Hatch covers for hold 1 & 2 are
equipped with sprinkler system for firefighting.
Additionally, please refer to email MOLSHIPSG200610VSC06 regarding tandem operations causing
damages on one of the vessels however this vessel’s cargo holds are not provided with separation &
tandem operation is possible.
All hatch covers are Non-Weather tight hatch covers. Gutter bars and labyrinth packing are fitted between
each panel of hatch covers for reducing the ingress of rain and seawater. The sliding pad (rest pad), which
is made of resin, is used to withstand the strong friction load generated due to the large hatch opening. All
cargo holds and hatch cover inspections have completed within last two months.

Main Engine:
TYPE: MITSUI B&W, 11K 98MC (MARK (VI)
MCR: 62,920 KW (85.547PS) AT 94 RPM NCR: 53,480 KW AT 89 RPM STROKE: 2,660 mm
On August 10. 2009 ME No 2 turbocharger was cut-out from operation.
Currently M/E is running with 2 turbochargers - # 1 and # 3 - and the maximum RPM is limited to 74.6
@ 85% MCO
Available RPM range – Max RPM – 74.6rpm/min, depending on weather condition
Unusable Range – 63-67 (Due to frequent Cut in / cut out of blowers)
SSS Range – 44 ~ 57rpm based on Engine parameters.
F.O. Tank Capacity: approx. 8455.29 CBM (including Overflow, Settling and service tanks)
There is load up/down program. Reduction of RPM is achieved almost 30% faster than load up program.
Ensure when turning RPM Micrometer do not go below 48 RPM as this will cause the cancellation of
load down program instantly. From 48 RPM, no notice is required. For safety purpose we bring down to
50RPM and then reduce as required.

Bow Thruster: Working satisfactory. Usually, 30 mins notice is given for preparing BT for arrival and
departure. BT can run on 100% for maximum of 30 minutes.
Pls be guided by circular MOLSHIP(S) <06-BRG>18/002: Operative Guideline for Bow Thruster (over
5knots).

Navigational equipment: All navigational & communication equipment’s are presently working
satisfactory. Kindly refer to MTR 010 for the latest updates.

Steering motors: Three in numbers and all are in good working condition. No1 Steering motor is on
emergency source of power and starts with a delay of 10 seconds

Gyro compass:
Two Gyros along with repeaters in good working order. No alarms during my tenure.
Annual service of Gyro has been carried out in Rotterdam on 23-Apr-2023

Radars: Type JRC- S and X band are working satisfactory... X Band Magnetron renewed on 27-Feb-2023
during my tenure.

GPS: Both GPS working in good order. GPS printer not provided. Internal batteries replaced 29-Mar-2022.

AIS: AIS is working satisfactory. Annual completed at Zhoushan Dry Dock on 10th May 2022.

ECDIS: Type JRC JAN 9201. Annual completed at Zhoushan Dry Dock on 10th May 2022. Presently
connected directly to Ship’s battery.

ONEOCEAN: ONEOCEAN is the service provider, installed on dedicated computer in Radio room, and
back-up in general Bridge PC.
Chart corrections are not provided, Publications are handled through OneOcean. For ordering any AVCS,
ADP & eNP please see MOLSHIP(S) 06-BRG 22-003 and Transition to PAYS (Pay as You Sail)
from Benjamin Barton.

Echo Sounder: Working Satisfactory, using Paper recording.

Course recorder: Is in satisfactory working condition except paper feed sometimes get stuck needs
continuous monitoring and adjustment during the watch.

VHF’s: No.1 and No.2 in good working order. Remote handset for VHF No. 1 is in ships office for changing
controls kindly switch of both the VHF keeping the handset on docket and then switch on the one you
want to use, FYI: the one in ships office. Is being used when in port.

Weather facsimile: Weather Facsimile is in good working condition.

NAVTEX: Working Satisfactory, Printer not provided.

VDR: Satisfactory. Extraction cables kept near the panel, Key with Master and one near the console box.

BNWAS: Ami-Marine fitted on the bridge near telegraph console. All stages of alarm working in order.
BNWAS key is with master, spare key is kept in master cabin.

SSAS: Built in Sat-C equipment, instructions for use and test procedures kept along with SSP. All
Addresses have been updated as required.

Night Vision binocular: Is under master’s custody, exterior rubber condition is poor, tested and working
satisfactorily.

Anemometer - Satisfactory

Barometer: Bridge, master’s cabin, ships office & ECR. For calibration refer INFCOB 21/013.

ALDIS lamps and their spare portable batteries are in good condition. Charging record is being
maintained.

Magnetic Compass: Last shore Adjustment 17th May 2022.
Compass Deviation carried out by ship staff on 16-Apr-2023.

Spare magnetic compass bowl kept on the bridge Nav locker with all other compass accessories.

Doppler Log: Working in good order.

Clear view screens: Working in satisfactory condition.

Bridge Front Porthole Glass: All wipers and heaters working well.

X-mas tree lights: Working satisfactorily, Singapore green light portable arrangement – one set, kept in
Nav locker.

Air horns/talkback system/Gen alarms: All working in good order. 2 Spare diaphragms available.

EPIRB: 1no. located STBD Bridge wing, Working in good order.

SART: 2 nos. located near STBD/PORT Bridge wing doors, Working in good order.

All other navigational equipment accessories on the bridge including binoculars/ Telegraph recorder
/Printers etc. in good condition
Life Saving/Safety/Firefighting Equipment: All LSA & FFA are in good condition & maintained as per
SMS. All Lifesaving & safety equipment are in satisfactory working condition, all updated in the SOLAS
training manual. Details of the LSA/ FFA are maintained in ROFAL MTR-028.

SOLAS Training manual: V/L maintains total 6 and 5 copies of STM and FSOB respectively, please refer
to fire plan for exact location.

Lifeboats: Totally enclosed type, capacity 30 persons each & gravity davit type. Stbd L/Boat is designated
Rescue boat. Schedule of launching / manoeuvring of both Life Boats are followed as per SQR003 or the
earliest available opportunity. Requisition for new Recovery Strops and Hanging off Pendants sent (but still
no update on delivery). Annual servicing of both lifeboat winches and on/off load mechanism carried out
at Zhoushan DD on 14th May 2022. (Expecting Annual inspection in upcoming call Durban) Stbd Lifeboat
falls have been changed 26th Dec 2020. Port LB falls have been changed 01st Nov 2021.Kindly refer
ROFAL for more details. Both the Port and Stbd side lifeboat remote control wire have been changed MAY
2022. Do not grease these stainless-steel remote-control wires. The adequate length of counter weights for
remote wire is maintained 40cms from the top pulley. Both Lifeboats Magnetic compasses have been
replaced with the new ones both are retrofitted with the additional lights kindly do check the working of
the same on weekly basis. Port side lifeboat Bilge pump is replaced on 17-May-2023. Both L/B drain plugs
are of C-Type (doesn’t come out fully) Operating instructions are posted in the vicinity for the PSC and
Audit purposes, STBD side L/B also have some leak problem from the gland packing of propeller shaft
when trying out engines in water, kindly make sure to drain the same after completing the L/B Launching
drill.

Port side lifeboat Interlock lever is not being activated automatically during lifeboat launching. The
same is expected to be rectified during Annual inspection.

Life Rafts: Total 4 nos. of 16 person’s capacity 2 on either side on A-deck with separate release
arrangement and HRU for each. One 6 person’s Life raft is provided aft, break of foc’sle with no HRU (only
turnbuckle arrangement). Life raft last serviced OCT-2022 refer MRT-028, HRU expiry Refer MTR-028.
Embarkation ladder on both port and starboard side boat deck and break of foc’sle in satisfactory
condition. Reference to MOLSHIPSG190117NM02, Stowing Instructions for Forwards & Aft Life-Rafts.

Life Buoys: All in good condition, port of registry stencilled. S.I. light found in good condition.
Additionally, 1no. L/Buoy with Light and Line is placed near G-Way which is not mentioned in LSA Plan.

M.O.B. Markers: 02nos. expiring in Aug-2024


LTA’s: 04nos. expiring in check LSA Maintenance Plan for actual dates.
Bridge pyrotechnics: 12nos. Rocket parachute expiring in Aug’2024.
Boat pyrotechnics: All pyrotechnics expiring in Sep/Oct’23.

Life jackets: All in good condition. All life jacket lights are in good working condition. Refer to last update
of MTR-028 for better understanding of expiry of lights.

Immersion Suits: All in satisfactory condition. Last pressure testing carried out on board in 23-APR-2023
by shore staff at Rotterdam. Additionally, V/l has 1no. Adult (190cms) and 1no. Adult (205cms) kept in
C-Dk Lkr. 2nos. Adult (190cms) kept in Bosun’s store forward which are not mentioned in LSA Plan.

Working Life Vest: All vest was inspected (3 monthly inspection to be carried out, refer to last MTR-028
for reference) and needs replacement as per company requirements. 8 new life vest has been ordered and
will be receiving the same in upcoming call Rotterdam. Bobbins of the life vest has been replaced during
my tenure. Kindly Refer to ROFAL

Fire hoses: Fire hose Pressure test is coming due on August and September respectively. Condition of all
fire hoses on deck are good and has been replaced as required during my tenure. Engine room hoses are
in Moderate condition. Total of 9 Fire hoses with couplings has been kept in LSA locker as spare and 4
more requisition raised which will be received in Rotterdam. Fire hose boxes on deck are in moderate good
condition. 4 hose boxes were replaced during my tenure and around 2 more requires replacement.
Owing to Pilferage at China & South Africa ports- measures are taken to secure the LSA/ FFA items inside
stores.

Fire & G.S. pump: Operation satisfactory & can be started from EHQ, locally, ship’s office and Wheel
house. Emergency fire pump can be started from EHQ and locally. Emergency fire pump operation is
satisfactory. Engine room has fresh water auto detection spray system (Hyper Mist) for M/E, DG, Boiler,
Purifier & Incinerator.
Paint room has sprinkler system.

Fireman outfit: 4 sets of Fireman’s Outfit available and stored in EHQ. 2 New fire Mans outfit has been
put in use on EHQ.
4 sets of Chemical suits, stored in C-Deck locker. All in satisfactory condition.
The SCBA sets are total 6 No’s with 04 in EHQ and 02 in C-deck locker (2 are provided for IMDG).
Additionally, total 16 spare cylinders kept in EHQ and C-deck locker. Refer MTR-028.
Last service of SCBA by shore and 5-yearly Pressure testing of SCBA bottles done 08th Sept 2021.
Compressor for charging SCBA bottles is fitted in EHQ. Annual Air quality analysis checked on 23-APR-
2023
BONE Vibrator: V/l has total 2nos. kept in fire station , same are inbuilt in a fireman’s outfit helmet.

Extinguishers: For more details, please refer MTR-028 (ROFAL).

Masashi firefighting: Not in Fire Plan-Portable Water Mist unit 2 sets, kept in E/Rm workshop, 4th deck
in engine room for Emergency use. As per the latest message Masashi is added in MTR028 with latest 5
Yearly test don on 23-Dec-2022 by shore staff and 6 Monthly tests done on 13-May-2023 By ship staff

Foam Applicator Units: Total 3nos., one each in Refcon DG room, EHQ and 3rd deck near Boiler.

Foam replacement of one unit is due on August 2023. (Requisition already sent. Expecting item to receive
at Rotterdam) – Already received @ Rotterdam on 20 June 2023

EEBD: All as per plan, Total of 11 EEBDs onboard various location as per Fire Plan.
Drills / Training is conducted as required.

All Fire fighting appliances are in accordance with SOLAS chapter 2 and in good working condition.
Fire alarm panel situated on the bridge. Same working in good order, local fire fighting “Console Fire-
Detector Panel” for engine room situated in EHQ.

Drills / trainings for the month: All Drills for the month conducted as per schedule. Drill planning is
done for the year in SQR -003 considering the voyage schedule.

SOPEP - Latest Inventory of SOPEP items are updated and posted in SOPEP store.

Important Notes- Not included in official handover.

Important due in upcoming Months.

1) Annual service of Lifeboat is due, Expecting the same in Cape Town or Rotterdam
Port side Lifeboat has issues with the interlock lever which is to be activated manually during
lowering. It doesn’t gets automatically activated.

2) Pyrotechnics – Various pyro technics is expiring on September and October of this year.
Requisition to be made as required
3) Some Life Jacket lights is expiring in November 2023. Kindly refer MTR-028
4) EEBD – Annual inspection due on 30Sept-2023 by ship staff
5) SCBA annual inspection is due on 09-Sept-2023
6) Fire hose Test - 04-Aug, 09-Aug & 25-Sept are the due dates. Kindly refer MTR-028. I
have raised requisitions of fire hoses all three times during my tenure. 5 fire Hoses is
expected to arrive in upcoming Rotterdam and we have 9 spares kept in LSA LKR.
Condition of fire hoses on deck is good and I have replaced around 6 New fire hoses. E/R
has got three fire hoses which are short in length and to be replaced during hose test.
7) Condition of fire hose box on main deck is moderate. We have two spare hose boxes on
Locker. I have replaced three hose boxes on main deck.
8) MTR -027 Open shut test is due on June 2023- I have already completed it for Engine
room and the remaining are of Deck and Accommodation will try to do that depending on
the schedule.
9) All the flags for the voyage are in sufficient quantities. Inventory is updated. Flags B
& H are also in sufficient quantity.
10) All important IMO symbols are in sufficient quantity with us.

Upcoming Requisitions to be made


1) Pyrotechnics.
2) Lifeboat bilge pump has been replaced for port side lifeboat on 18-May-2023. As of
now there is no spare with us.

Items pending for receiving

1) KK5 life vest 8 Pcs- expecting delivery at Rotterdam – KK5 with us 07 pcs are expired,
Refer MTR 028 for further understanding.
2) Gel Coat Paint- For painting inside lifeboat was ordered during last requisition. The item
was shown as delivered in the checklist during last Rotterdam, whereas actually we
haven’t received the item. The same was mailed by chief officer and expecting the item in
Rotterdam-This call
3) Fire hoses 05-PCS
4) One hose for 45 LTR foam extinguisher was found cracked. Requisition was made for that.

Flag state inspection was completed. There was no deficiencies or observation from LSA. FFE
part. But he had some comments. Will be sharing with you once onboard.

During signing of extinguisher, kindly remember the extinguisher for No 1 & 2 Cargo hold are
present in the extreme forward part on under deck passage.

On deck 3 Hydrants are present on the cross decks of forward part.

There are hydrants on Under deck passage, but No fire hoses. This is complying with fire Plan so
no issues.
Recovery strop and hanging of pendent are expired. Discussions going on about the requisitions
