    TASK: Each of the statements below are relevant to some of the theories and ideas about
    the Horror Genre. Complete the table below by EXPLAINING your responses to the them.

    STATEMENT
    Villains are usually male, and victims
    are usually female.

    The reason the main hero is usually a


    woman is that the audience will feel
    more fear for a woman in peril than
    they will for a man in the same
    situation.

    A child villain is the most


    controversial.

    Villains always have a motivation and


    a reason for doing what they do.

    Victims have often sinned in some


    way- their death is a punishment for
    what they have done!

    Horrors are only scary when you can


    believe that they could happen to
    you. E.g. the Villain is a killer, not
    supernatural.

    The first victims are usually the least


    suspicious or least intelligent.
